SEO for Flash Sites

Can anyone advise me how I can achieve maximum SEO for my Flash web site at www.janekeightley.co.uk.

I really like the site. SEO with flash sites can be very very difficult. Search engines have advanced to just about read some text inside flash but not very well.

I reccomend you create a low graphic page for each section with showing all the text content with a prominent link at the top which liinks to the main flash page. With these pages you can give each a nice big keyword heading and name each page title with the main keyword too.

The usual optimization strategies apply to Flash sites. Optimize each movie and page with appropriate titles and content. In the absence of indexable content, make sure all pages have appropriate meta tags.

Unless your Flash site has a few targeted keyword phrases, split it into separate pages. It will help your optimization efforts.

If you have a 100% Flash website, consider changing it. Don't get me wrong, Flash is nice. The problem is that search engines don't like Flash … at least not sites that are 100% Flash. Flash handles text differently than a standard HTML page, so most search engines have a hard time properly indexing 100% Flash. Think about it … when was the last time you did a Google search and the #1 ranked site you found was a Flash site?

If search engine rankings are a goal, reconsider your 100% Flash site. Try a hybrid site instead. Make your pages HTML, or ASP based. Include great content, appropriate meta tags, anchor text, structured headings, and then embed your cool Flash elements into the page. You are likely to see dramatic improvements in your rankings.
