Guy wants to know how much I want for innovativefishing.com. I've not thought about it.

What are your thoughts...(above and beyond the reg fee)?

Thanks.

Since all the other extensions are still available, I don't think you can ask for too much. I would ask $300 and accept $150+. Good luck.

Verbster...
I'm a fisherman AND a Domainer...I've researched the name and know that alot of majors in the industry use the combo of words on the main page: innovative+fishing
so....I personally believe you have a winner with innovativefishing.com....

I'd ask for high $x,xxx.xx to start then negotiate my way down from there...

The person that wants the domain is obviously (my guess) is in the industry...and wants the domain...at the least recognizes it's value...

My .02

If you make the price too high (aything 4 figures) they will pass and just go for an alternate tld. or alternate wording... InnovativeFishing.net or InnovativeFisher.com. I think you have to keep it reasonable so that they say, "Ok, I'm willing to spend that for my first choice." Good luck.

Thanks for the interesting thoughts. The guy who inquired included his full name, business name, two phone numbers and business web address. I checked and they are legit. This tells me he is serious. Unfortunately, he is not in the fishing business; he is the senior technical recruiter for a private employment agency. This tells me he is serious, but maybe not $xxxx serious...but who knows? Tough to figure out.
Does this info influence your thoughts?

Your negotiating verbster...HE contacted YOU...that name goes with recruiting just as well fisher...innovative fisher ...sounds unique and brandable for a recruiter...

I'd still ask maybe low x,xxx.xx for starters...tell him your willing to negotiate but that is what you have in mind for starters....

Remember....your selling eRealEstate...highly sought after at that...he came to you...

It's a cool name... let him know that your willing to negotiate....in your response...and you should not scare him off (I'm a buyer and that is one thing I look for...)

Better grab INNOVATIVEANGLING.COM as well since I see it's still available.

My first inclination was to be conservative. Then, OldRatRacer's bullish approach reminded me of some of the sales prices listed on dnjournal today, and I thought I'd be bullish, too. My asking price was $1850, but I told him I'd entertain offers...and also included around 20 related domains I have that he might like. It's fun.

Asking for $1850 is a gamble that's worth taking. But suggesting other domains to a buyer that has approached you unsolicited about a domain you own is a big NO-NO in my book. You have to understand that the buyer is of the mind that the domain he is after is great and very special. The last thing you want to do is put him in the mind that "hey, its just one of many domains out there that you might be interested in. If you want to contact him after the sale of the domain he was interested in is completed and say, "By the way I have some others you may like"... that's fine. But first you need to close the sale.

You are absolutely correct, greggish. I was thinking if he nearly died of sticker shock, the lower-priced names might keep him in touch. It's been my experience that if the asking price is lots higher than expected, the buyers don't bother to make an offer, figuring it's out of their range. We'll see.

Binaryman...thanks. I took your suggestion for real; but more importantly, a few searches gave me some fairly good names related to your choice of words, especially "angling." Will post them later to see if you think they are worthwhile.

Ok Verbster...Good luck with the Negotiating...but...I totally agree with greggish..that was a big NO-NO..adding more domains "Quote:You have to understand that the buyer is of the mind that the domain he is after is great and very special./Quote" Yep...I concur..

Let us know how it goes....Great job letting him know that your willing to entertain offers and not a bad starting point...you can go down from there....

The reply today said he is talking it over with his partner to see what they can come up with. Said they'll get back to me shortly.

If I remember right, this is like the sale Gene had.
