Luckily for you we are not allowed to give appraisals in the negative range, i would say a 0 value is being generous, please stay away from the dot biz extension

I would think most people who just type in Fender are looking for the guitar brand, not for car Fenders. That and the .biz extension make this a dropper.

$0

The .biz took it down

It's a generic term and not being used for the same like the guitar site, so no infringement so far IMHO. So I was just for suggesting you to offer the name to the fender company but not sure if the the fact of the offer to a trademark owner could mean an infringement in some way, so if you have this clear could try or not

Good luck!

If you're willing to put in the time, you could get a good price (low $XXX?) from a repair shop, etc.

I've personally sold questionable domains to local shops because they really want the name even after I explain the value drop of the TLD.

There are plenty of stores here with .biz addresses that have no problem with it. I used to try to talk people OUT of .biz, but they'd always want to go with the word they wanted in .biz instead of something else in .com so I gave up trying to think like a domainer around them.

Failing that, you could easily resell this on eBay or somesuch service.

I would suggest starting at $18.99 and putting a BIN of $48.00.

Just keep relisting (it's free) until it sells, and if it gets close to renewal, mark it down once and relist until it expires.

This is in no way "reg fee" or $0.

You'd be surprised how many unsophisticated small business owners don't realize how bad .biz are. Find an end user such as a guy that gives guitar lessons or repairs/sells guitars and offer it to him. Take whatever you can get because .biz sucks.

"Bad" is relative.

If all the website traffic is going to come from printed fliers and local commercials, then "fender.biz" is easy enough for REAL CUSTOMERS of your shop to remember.

It's important to stop thinking like a domainer selling to other domainers, and think like a domainer selling to a client outside the business.

Just because you are a car salesman doesn't mean if someone shows you their boat, you tell them "That goes on water so it's worth nothing."

I registered a .biz for a local shop even though I kept telling the owner he should think about a different .com. No, he wanted the .biz and nothing else.

So I got it for him - and he's been using it for probably 12 years.

Being a proper salesman is 0% what you want for the customer, and 100% what the customer wants for themselves.

motorhead has it right, dot biz does sell to limited budget endusers.

Go to NameBio.com and search just the dot biz ext, set the sale price min to 100 . Then sort by date and look at the sales from this year.
Biz is not a worthless ext, as some n00bs would like to express to show how much they know about selling domains.

I know some pretty smart domainers that have made good money off dot biz.
It could go in the low to mid xxx.

Also, dont even think about going to Fender Guitars with this name, thats just 8-X

Good Luck.

Peace,
Cyberian

Well, after reading some other's members comments, I think they are right and it worth more than $0.

And I was reflecting that the name is short and sounds good, so it could sell, then I think you could expect $50+. While higher less problably of course but who knows

Sorry for the $0 and good luck!

Not questioning your afirmation, but I'd like to know the reason of "thats just 8-X"

Do you assume they are not interested?

Do you think it could bring problems?

Or other reason?

"thats just 8-X"

The reason is its an old, well established trademark for guitars.

Its also why single word "fender" search exacts dont mean much.

Thanks for your reply johname, I asked him because the way he expressed the advise of not offer the name to the Fender guitar company sounded to me like something related to some legal issue. In my first post I didn't suggest ritedomains to offer it or not, just I commented to ritedomains what I had thought.

but supposing for being a dictionary word which I undertand in these cases one could use it but in other goods or services without any problem, then why to assume to offer the name to they is in vane? why they coundn't be interested?

Then all this sounds that legally is not advisable but I'm still not sure.

The problem is that they can use the contact offer as evidence of a bad faith reg in a UDRP (and take the name away) Plus its just a hassle that way better to avoid

Would have to hunt down a fender collision center that loves the name fender so much they dont care about the extension. Add that most autobody shops dont give a hoot about the word fender in their company name, and your talking a massive and long campain to actively sell this for $xx-xxx.

On the other hand a passive campain (wait for people to email you) can take years.

Oh it just hit me! Look into guys that make custom motorcycle fenders.

Then it seems to be a bad idea and not advisable :)

Thanks again
