"Fake PR" lists

Hey everyone,

I made a thread in the 'Available domains' forums. The thread contained a list of domains with Google PRs of 7. I also clearly stated in the topic that Google PRs of 7 were speculated to sometimes be false, and that the PR ranking of 7 could be real or false.

Anyways, to make a long story short, Mark (all4cost) closed the thread with this message: We do not allow FAKE PR List to be posted here any longer - Thread closed .....

If it is truely against the rules, then I am not mad that the thread was closed. However, I also gave a forewarning that the domains listed may have questionable PR.

What I am asking is: where are the rules on what types of domain lists can be posted in the "Expired Domains" forum and subforum? I had no idea that posting domain lists with questionable PR was against the rules. There are no stickied topics in any of the "Expired Domains" forums, so I assumed we could post anything 'within reason' (e.g. no adult-related domain lists).

Not only did I not know posting such lists was against the rules, but it made me look bad as well. :|

Can someone please guide me in the correct direction with all of this?
Thank you,
Andy

We've had too many people registering these "Questionable" PR domains and trying to sell them as PR domains. We stopped allowing these type list to be posted because of this reason. Why would you post a list if any were questionable ? It's a sore subject around here lately .... People buy a PR domain for a high amount of money thinking they have something - and then they get their heart broken when they find out the truth .....

Even though it's simple to check, some people still get confused by Fake PR names. I did appreciate that you had a disclaimer on there noting that the PR was questionable, though all of the names that I checked did indeed have fake PR.

A sidenote, I registered a name from your suggestion list myself (not for PR reasons) and hope you don't stop posting name suggestion lists. :)

@Mark and RJ: I understand now, I guess it could be a threat to the marketplace here, and everywhere else where domains are bought, sold, and traded. I just thought that it was alright to post a list like that as long as I were to include a forewarning. But I guess the problem could extend beyond the person that registers the fake PR domain after seeing my list. Although rare, would it be against the rules to post domains with high PRs as long as I can prove they are real and not post anything unsure/questionable? Thank you for explaining the reasoning for it to me. :)

While I am on the subject: are there any other types of lists that are not okay to post in the Expired Domains forum and subforum? I assume adults ones are not okay, but could I thought I would double-check. Anything else?

@RJ: thank you for your sidenote comment there, it's been a couple of days since I posted my last list in those forums - I'm gearing up for a 'megalist' that I've been working on putting together these last few evenings. I'll be posting it Saturday afternoon. :tu:

Regards,
Andy
