ExpiredDomains Status Question

Hi,
I watchlisted a pending delete domain on ExpiredDomains. When it dropped, it moved to “Caught Domains – Registered.”

Does this mean:

it was caught by one person/backorder, or

it can still go to an auction if multiple people backordered it at the catcher?

In other words, does “Caught – Registered” always mean it’s already owned, or can it still end up in auction?

Thanks.

It depends.

What registrar is it listed with?

Have you tried going to the domain itself?

It says on whois that registrar is Dropcatch, but I cannot find it auctioned there. Domain name is webstocker.com

It was caught by DropCatch three days ago (it dropped, then was caught and registered by DropCatch).

Caught by Dropcatch, not in their auctions and has a generic Namebright (Dropcatch sister company) lander - my guess is it's already owned by an individual.

It means both, depending on whether it was caught by a service that auctions them.

At many dropcatching services, there will only be an auction if more than one person backordered it.

Some dropcatching services require you to backorder it prior to it dropping to participate in the auction (e.g., NameJet), while others are completely open to anyone (e.g., DropCatch).
