Hey, I'm 15 years old and I'm really not very good at all this domain stuff but I need some help. It's kind of a long story so I'll explain as best I can.

I created a community/forum website a little over a year ago through Forumotion for an online game that I play. The original domain name for it was just a free extension off of a forumotion site. I bought my own domain name for it so it would look more professional. I payed something like 20 dollars for a year. Well around November my website was doing pretty well it had a couple thousand members and bunches of posts. Unfortunately Forumotion didn't warn me about renewing my domain name and it expired. Someone else bought it right after it expired and I couldn't find any way to get it back so I gave up. But around a month ago I found out it was in 'Redemption Period' and in 30 days it would go back to public domain so I could buy it. Well the end of the Redemption Period was today and it turns out some company sniped it from me and I can't find any way to but it back. If someone could tell me what to do it would be greatly appreciated.

Heres the Whois info:

I would drop them an email at admin @ overseedomainmanagement.com and see what they want to sell it for??

I guess it depends on how much the name is worth to you?

If you manage to get it back, make sure to set it to "auto-renew"

If you have no luck, all the other extensions are available

Good luck

Contact them. Try to understand what do they want in return.

Given the circumstances, you still have rights to the domain. The question is, are you willing to persue the matter? The answer is almost always a no, so the domain industry commonly holds such domains at ransom when finding out that the drop was an accident. The company that has it now is pretty big, so they may not squat on it.

Lesson #1: never rely on courtesy reminders from your registrar. Plus E-mail is not 100% reliable.

Looks like the name was deleted then registered at the end of the redemption period. The redemption period exists as a protection for registrants but it carries an expensive fee.

It's nothing personal, but whoever snapped the domain must have done it for the backlinks and traffic, not to piss you off. 50000+ domains delete every day just in .com, most of them are just abandoned but unfortunately there are unwanted deletions too.

The bottom line of this, your domain must have been deactivated for weeks as a result. Probably your best bet is to start afresh with a new domain (you can register up to 10 years ahead).

PS: Snapnames could be 'tasting' the domain too. I would suggest that you wait for a few days to see if they release the domain... that could still happen. Don't visit the domain in the meanwhile so as not to alert them of possible interest, but check availability with a registrar.
