This has been brought up many many times before. Why did you wait a couple of hours? If you see a name you think is good, and don't want to lose it, you have to register it rigth then! Otherwise, you snooze, you lose!!!!!

Though the practice of this dude or company might have unethical draws to it... I believe that you probably should have registered the name a couple hours earlier when you checked it.

#1 Rule of domaining in my book?
- Do not shop without readiness to purchase the names you search for.

First of all, you would have to prove it. How can you? There is a possibility it was just a coincidence. People are looking for, and regging domains all day long.

It's coincidence that I search for a name, two word, random words really that has never been registered before in the history of the internet and within a few hours some one by coincidence registers the exact same name?
It's not coincidence, it's theft and hopefully it's only someone front running.

It's not theft if you didn't own it.

You should have taken it when you searched it. Maybe that person figured you didn't want it since you didn't register it. Now you know.

The fact is that someone used my search to their gain without my permission, someone stole my private search for there own gain.

He also doesn't seem to own a domain older then April of this year, in his 1000 oldest domains anyway.

Google, Yahoo, Live hmm.. Even some ISP's.. Plenty do it.. The name just might get drop in a few days.. Watch it, most of them don't hold the name very long unless they have traffic.

When you own 136k names it likely that you register more than 400 names a month imo.

it is a total scam and there are many providers against this practice. fabulous & moniker do not engage in front running.

Nah, the name is dead other then other registrant information and I've already found other people who've had there domains tasted and kept after whois.sc a.k.a domain tools. I thought domaintools were not front running though thats why I used them.
Ah well, you learn eh? I wait my 5 days and then register the sucker the first chance I get.

Why GoDaddy? They're not exactly what i'd call honest, they've made more than their share of sleazy moves...

i aways do searches at moniker, as they have live whois (godaddy doesnt), and i have never had problems but the most important thing is if you think you have a good name in mind check its availability where you will reg it and you must reg it immediately after it shows as available... you wont regret

Just an FYI. Those are Records, NOT domain names. ;)

A record is a listing that matches the registrants name or email address. This also goes back to domain history! So if you ever owned a domain and there is a whois history record of it, it will show under that number as well.
