How Does it Work

Funds will then need to be per-deposited at the registrar(s) in order to cover registration fees. DesktopCatcher currently supports ten different registrars for you to choose from! Each registrar can send between 1 and 2 requests per second. The more registrars you setup, the more requests you'll be able to send each second and increase your odds of success! Common Questions
Which domain registrars are supported? - DynaDot, NameSilo, OnlineNIC, RRPproxy, NameBay, MijnDomeinReseller, AJM.Domains, Internet.bs, Gandi and eNom.
What type of domains can it catch? - DesktopCatcher can catch all types of domains in a variety of extensions. However, we don't recommend using it if you chase highly competitive domains such as one word .COM, four letter .COM and 5 number .COM domains.

I purchased DesktopCatcher this morning and received a message about receiving my 'key' once my paypal funds had cleared. I set about reading the very comprehensive guide and was hugely suprised to find my 'key' in my emails before I had finished reading the document!

The software was quick and easy to download and install and I followed the step-by-step instructions to get and set up my NameSilo API. It was so simple that I felt I must have done something wrong and missed something. Unfortunately, there was nothing I wanted to catch today but I did load up the most bid on 4L.com dropping so I could see how the system worked. It works beautifully!

Hello,
I've been using DesktopCatcher since May, and I can only recommend it.

- Easy to set up (I had it all set within a few hours: created 5 accounts with registrars I was not using before, funded them with about $20 each)

- Easy to use. Once you've made up your list of domains, group them by TLDs and launch as many instances of the software as you have extensions.

- Works fine. So far I caught about 35 domains: a few 2 words .COM / a lot of 2 words .NET

Remember it's a good tool to catch "small" domains with low competition but it can't compete with Pheenix or any of the other Dropcatcher services. FPForum is pretty clear about that anyway.

If you read the thread and the other comments, you've heard about the great support! I have to admit I was impressed, fast and detailed answers, anytime of day!

Do the registrars penalize you if you win, for example, 2 domains but only have enough Funds to pay for 1 domain? How does that work?

Thanks for your post and review @JimJammy, I wish you the best success at catching more names in the future! @fivehead - As a quick note, you can see some of the most recently caught domains by viewing the footer of the homepage. Keep in mind, users have the ability to choose whether or not they want to share their catches, so not all caught domains are there. Just ones from those who enable the option to share.

@HDmarketing - A big thanks for your awesome detailed review! Glad to hear you've been having success, and I wish you more in the future!

@Nat Hunt - If you have 5 registrars going for the same domain and 2 of them happen to attempt registration at the same time, one will end up being successful and the other will simply return the funds back to your balance. The registrar will usually send you an email too, letting you know the registration failed and funds have been returned.

On a side note, Version 6.9 was just released! Lots of new little tweaks and stuff with more on the way. Check the website or this post in the future for more updates

To be frank, I didn't have high expectation when I purchased, but it surprised me with 10 catches out of 24. Next day I caught 7 out of 16.

Wanted to provide review.

I've been using Desktop Catcher since August with pretty good results.
First of all, if you looking to beat the big dogs: Snapnames, Namejet, Dropcatch and Pool, it's not possible with the help of DC or any other indie written software, simply because of the number of registrars big companies use. But you can successfully compete with the other individuals catching names and beat most of people with no software. Before I got it I was hand-registering myself, also with the use of the other Whois checker software that tells you when domain is available. But after some time, I realized that loosing competition equals to loosing money and decided to buy Desktop Catcher.
It was right decision that made me X times profit already. Since I was catching Chinese LLLL.net, that selling for over $100 now. Only 2 of them would pay for the software and I got 2 X 100..

Now, let's talk about support. It's not a secret that a lot of tools being released and soon abandoned. Not the same with DC. Andrew provides everyday support for his software and there were no question left unanswered. Also it comes with handy manual, that pretty much takes care of 90% of the questions. How to work with all available registrars described in details there. I had most success using Dynadot and Namesilo, especially the last.

If you in domaining for a long time, dropcatching software is one of the tools worth spending money.

@solarix - thanks for your interest in the software. the amount of success can vary depending on how many registrars you're running and what type of setup you have. But, other users have reported in the past beating some of the other backorder outlets out there, including some which you listed.
