Expired 12 Aug., when is it available? What to do?

I am a bit confused regarding expired domains, well actually domains that will expire on a certain date.
It's my understanding that from the point of the date the domain is listed to expire you need to ad up approx: 80 days if you would want to register it.

Is this true?

What would be the best way to pick up a soon to be expired domain?
If i get involved with backordering services such as snapnames doesn't this mean i will reduce my chances?
Because i will automaticly will inform other people about the soon to drop domain?

You won't be "informing" anyone of anything; every drop is being watched by someone (And every dropping domain is listed at snapnames.com among other places.).

Which services are most reliable in your opinion? As you have said there are others as well so it could pay of if i would spread the chances of obtaining it around with others as well... i guess.

If it is expiring from a non-affiliated registrar (See adoptabledomains thread in DND), then there is no harm in using all drop-catchers that you can.
If it's expiring from a registrar that has an exclusive agreement with one of the major players (Namewinner, pool, snap, enom, tdnam, etc.), then it's only necessary to use the appropriate service, although using the other won't hurt anything.
