When do new days start?

as far as when a domain expires is it at midnight, for ex. if a domain expired tomorrow does it expire and is claimable at midnight tonight? and i am in EST so what time in est would it be, i am really confused about this someone pelase help, thanks! _\|/_

The timeframe and best method of catching the name depends on what registrar the name is at currently. A domain doesn't drop the moment it expires. There's a long and complicated process it must go through before being available for registration again.
