If a 2 word .com domain name without a hyphen sold for a very high price or is listed on a reputable website for a very high price, if you were to register the exact same 2 word phrase but in a .mobi extention with a hyphen in between, eg. Word1-Word2.mobi, do you think that it would be a wise investment? If so, how much in percentage less would you expect it to sell for?

IMHO, it's not a good strategy: the .com buyer had certain intentions which aren't easily translated into the .mobi space, which is an entirely different market that doesn't suit long names or hyphens well. Stick to short, memorable, one-word .mobis, if you tread there at all...

Thanks for the quick reply. What about something that was a generic 2 word hyphened .mobi?

Unfortunately, its not an exact science, so adopting methods like this rarely work. Also, I would be extremely hesitant about registering two-word .mobis, and certainly not one's with a hyphen. I can't see many people inputting a hyphen on a mobile phone.

It seems like all the good generic one word .mobis are taken! Only mispellings are available.

It could be worth something in the future, but look at it this way: .mobi has not taken off yet. It's pretty worthless right now. So I wouldn't waste time pursuing that name.

Do you mean that you wouldn't pursure hypened names or you wouldn't pursure .mobi in general?

there are too many domain extensions and i do not think that .mobi is such a big craze that people will pay lot of money for a domain name with hyphens.

Can be as much as 99.999999%
You see it really depends on the name, the length, the marketablilty, the monthly search count and lastly its relativity to a mobile extension.

How reputable ? - My point is most anyone can list a domain at most any price they wish .... On most any site - Reputable or not , Many sites allow paying for "Featured Spots".

Not to mention the possible "TM" problems if they have already or intend to register the particular domain.

Most "domainers" going after these particular type domains are doing so for Traffic IMO , not Re-Sell value ;)

If I were going to decide to use a hyphen, it'd be only for very generic 2 word .mobi Thanks to all who have replied. It has given me a bit to think about.
