Understanding "Match Types"

Like many, Im using Google's Ad Word Keyword tool to help with names. I have to say though that I don't fully grasp the difference between the "Match types" that can be selected:

As an example, lets say you enter a two word search term, and google generates the following iterations with the following results:

1. 4,090,000 word1 word2
2. 3,350,000 "word1 word2"
3. 1,830,000 [word1 word2]

What do these mean? Whats the difference between the 3 results?
Does one in particular lend itself better to choosing a domain name?

Thanks, I know this is fairly basic stuff.

I suppose they are the number of requests made with certain keywords.
In any case google has huge knowledge base and faq.

Hi

Broad Match are the keywords anywhere so if you searched for blue widget
then it will search for all occurrences of those words hence not as targeted so much higher search volumes found.

"Phrase match" will search for the phrase being included in a search request so best blue widgets or top blue widgets would count.

[Exact Match] is just that blue widget only. So it is the most relevant and is the reason why much less searches.

Hope that clarifies it a bit.

Thanks
