ESPANA.es recently purchased on moniker. Still waiting for it to show up in whois. Was told it takes some time when dealing with .es registry.

Saw that these recent sales occured:
1) Apartamentos.es $40,704 (Apartments in Spanish)
2) Zorras.es $8,412
3) Idealo.es $6,784

Figured espana.es could be for everything that you could think of in Spain:
1) apartments
2) loans
3) homes
4) computers
5) travel
6) vacation
7) food
8) etc.

Any thoughts and appraisals are welcomed.

Thank you in advance.

I don't know how much you bought it for, but consider yourself very very very very lucky you snared it. Consider some parallels:

france.fr is not permitted for any registration
neither is us.us
neither is japan.jp

for some reason or another such domains are rarely if ever handed out, so I would consider espana.es a very hot item. Handle it carefully!

$$$$$ of $$$$$

Sorry pendiumone, you have no chance of keeping this domain.
In fact, I can not imagine you actually have it.
I hope you are doing the deal through some kind of Escrow and have a chance of getting your money back.

Good luck!!!

Moniker allowed me to register it and billed my credit card for $16.43. At the time that I checked the availability, it had not been registered and was showing 'available'. Immediately after purchasing it, the domain went to an 'unavailable' status. I emailed Moniker immediately after to make sure the registration went through successfully and I was not being placed on some type of waiting list for the domain. Was told all was well, even though the .es registry takes some time. Either way, I believe moniker has a refund policy if there's some loophole later discovered.

Espaรฑa.es is better.

Since Moniker will definitely not have to pay Esnic for this domain, you should be getting a refund.

Interesting.

(Espaรฑa.es is better.)

Perhaps, but most people don't even know how to put the ~ over the 'n' if that's required to access the domain. Webster's dictionary also recognizes 'Espana' without the ~.

Many registrars have glitches and will let you 'register' names that are reserved or unavailable.
In this case the registry probably replied with a status code that was not properly handled by Moniker's scripts.

a name like that won`t be available for more than 1 second since the landrush......sorry mate.

It would have worth more than $100,000 for sure.

Not on my keyboard - but I'm not in Spain. I read somewhere online that some keyboards do have that special key, but not all. If it's not on all, then it has limitations.

i've expressed the detailed concerns to moniker mentioned here on the board, but they don't seem to have the same concerns apparently. moniker rep still telling me it's a pending registration and takes a few days to process through .es registry. regardless, i don't think i'll have a problem with the refund so i'm not too concerned.

Came across this forum where it appears they were discussing someone who was attempting to sell ESPAร‘A.ES. If it was reserved, not sure how it was obtained then to attempt to sell in the first place.

Espaรฑa.es is actually xn--espaa-rta.es.

I wish I owned it :).

EDIT: I think it's using RACE, according to the thread. Damn punycodes!
