Hello friends,

we are trying to build up a market place to sell domain names. We have a few options to deal with online payment issues.

1), Link customer to sedo/ flippa to finish the deals: little inconvnient

2), Paypal: easy but customer may feel not safe

3), Escrow, or DN.com: sounds very safe for buyers

What do you suggest in terms of cons and pros, commission cost, user experience, etc

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
.US domains.US domains
Best commissions are offered by epik.com/services/escrow/
Sedo's escrow is higher (3% or min. $60) but very comfortable...

DN - China...
Escrow - No any pluses except bulk-sales (up to 30 domains)...

paypal recently started offer a nice new easy payment link with your real name on it.
get your personal link here.. at least new in canada.. and possibly not offered yet everywhere.. so check your country for support..

www.paypal.me

I think it works on same basis as service payment via regular send option. just makes it easier, plus shows your real name on payment page.. which buyers can easily compare to whois info for domain. feel more comfy that way I guess. if you feel any of them need to feel comfy with yoru sale.

I don't think it sends shiping address of buyer.. duh.. it's a service after all.. and who needs the shipping address for a domain push anyway

I have not tested it to know if there will be an option later when yuo enter payment info to select whether your paying goods or service though so try it out and see.

I am not sure but I think if paid this way, it also protects you from things like chargeback. please double check that.

hope this offers someone another option.

hmm
your welcome but
just to be clear.. this is not a platform
this is paypal.com
unless thats what you meant by platform

it's just an extra link/site/tool they created to make payments easy as 123.
it can have countless applications for countless people. form someone selling an online book online, misc digital goods, just sending money they owe to someone, or why not a domain payment.

as such, being paypal platform, there are no limits to paypal.

cheers

Regarding PayPal...
It only provides a chargebacks for buyers... no any escrow-services there...
If you want to lose your money and domains - you may use it...

I think you should be using Escrow.com deals of this value. It's too easy to use claim a payment was unauthorized or from a stolen credit card, after you have transferred the domain to them. Leaving you without the money AND the domain.

Stick with Escrow/com and avoid paypal

Transpact.com or Escrow.com are the escrow services of choice for domain names, and used regularly by those in the domain community.

Transpact.com is lower cost and very fast, but does not deal with more obscure countries (so no Cayman Island transactions for example).

Sedo or Afternic Escrow are also good. But nohere near as efficient as Escrow.com.
