I've been thinking the same thing. Rob's obviously reading the thread so I have sort of assumed he doesn't have a problem with it, but the fact is he hasn't said either way. Nice work by @Ategy.com organising things, but I wouldn't want to see it go to waste. Unfortunately I have already transferred 95% of my domains and don't do much on the hand-reg side of things so can't really help out either way...

Yeah I know .. originally @DomainNerdz asked and the idea was explored a bit more .. I think some assumed if it wasn't ok someone from Epik would have said no .. but more importantly at one point I saw that @Rob Monster had liked/thanked a few of the posts in question, so I tried to clear up who was in for how much since many people weren't clear.

That being said .. since mine are handreg, I'm chopping on the bit to register my 100 before too many get registered. Probably won't wait until the 24th. I'm going to see the next time there's a discount how many of my 100 have been registered and base my decision on that. That being said .. I'm only 100 domains, so ultimately not a big part of this as after getting the first wave of a few of us who wanted this the most, I'm not sure how realistic getting to 10k will be without help from a random whale from Rob .. which really is beyond our control as he could have 3 people come with 10k in the next 48 hours, or none for a month and a half.

@DomainNerdz .. I think the problem will be that we can't make any of Rob's whales wait. Some of us aren't willing to chance it could be weeks or months before we get to 10,000. I was prepared to buy at $6.49 (2500) ... but seeing as we're already over half way, I'm going to stand in solidarity with all of you until $5.99 (5000), but my commiment is with handregs, so I don't want to see any many of my 100 domains taken by anyone else because I waited too long!

@Blitzpotz - To confirm, that's 450 total, or in addition to the 200 you mentioned earlier

Great job @Ategy.com I wasn'ttrying to throw water on your excellent work. I just wanted to make sure we were not taking advantage of Rob's generosity. As for .COM backorders, they will remain at just $8.49 for all of October. It is first come first serve, so forget about hand-registering your dropcatches. For $8.49, if you are first in line at Epik, you will blow away just about anyone hand-registering or using APIs to dropcatch. @Gube has been hard at work with the engineers to introduce dropcatching upgrades that should allow Epik backorders to be fast but cheap. There are no auctions -- just first come first serve.

I believe that this thread needs more time and more promotion. This forum is incredibly deep, sometimes you are astonished to find interesting elder items which you haven´t yet discovered though being already a forum´s slave regarding the number of alerts and visits.

Remember how much time and posts the last effort took when 300 Likes had to be collected.
Does anybody know if it is allowed by forum rules to inform all Likers of this in one post here or with DM´s?

Yesterday I checked my Whois settings. Every user should check them, some will be surprised.

It´s a disaster built on 12 years of domaining with so many providers and several provider changes back and forth.
Though there is the new standard of complete Whois privacy - simplified said - there are providers showing the organization name. I am no organization but my full sur- and last name is visible there in several cases as another setting of my Whois was not accepted by a provider or because I made a mistake or whatever.
In many cases my homeland region is visible in Whois. Assuming, that you live in Afghanistan-Bananastan (Quote Robert Redford) Whois readers can suggest your identity.

That said I will have to transfer much more names to finally correct and standardize my Whois settings. Because mass transfer is easier than try to correct Whois under current circumstances, the more so as some registrars want to be paid for full privacy with amazing additional fees.
But if I transfer in one go I am no big whale but a bleached coral reef. That´s why I cannot add numbers myself to the given 450 for now.

Where to transfer then, regardless the price?
This is no advertisement: Epik needs a minimum of input to transfer names. Download your full portfolio csv or xml list and open it in Excel, pair the columns Domain and Authcode, copy these and bulk paste into the order box. Don´t forget to unlock the names before you order. After the order you just have to accept transfers with your old registrar or not even that - here registrars act different - and Epik does the rest without any further confirmation needed.
Other registrars offer to bulk insert name and authcode in the order box, too. But when you did so and finished your order you have to write every single authcode again in another box. Horror.
