Every day, Epik is dropping more and more domains.

For many TLDs, on day 36 of expiry, we send names through a Snapnames expiry auction. The minimum bid there is $79 which is high for some domains.

On Day 43 of expiry, the last day before we delete names, we do a reverse auction with the final price of domains dropping all the way down to $9 plus the renewal cost.

Every day we see great names get picked up for peanuts. Last night DrugAddiction.Co went for $9 plus reg fee, for example.

You can check out the daily inventory here:

https://marketplace.epik.com/daily-diamonds

The Epik.com team will post in this thread about particularly insane bargains that you might want to know about.

Also, for NamePros members, we have dropped the Backorder fee all the way down to $8.49. So, if you want to backorder at Epik, you can still get a non-exclusive but no-auction backorder for reg fee. For premium domains, the renewal fee is added to the backorder fee, but for a .COM, $8.49 is the all-in refundable backorder deposit.

So, follow this thread and we'll drop some backordering nuggets here.

Daily Diamonds Picks
udrpcase.com - StateBlog.com - vfm.us
I have to say my favorite is UDRP Case, It would be great to develop it into a website to help domainers defend against UDRP cases, make a list of UDRP cases..

You can place backorders from here : https://epik.com/bulk
And check Daily diamonds here : https://marketplace.epik.com/daily-diamonds

If you have any question about Epik or this list,
Feel free to mention or contact me :)

Happy dropcatching,
Gube

I was Gubeing successfully, got 4 out of 18 backordered names. Not sure if they are great names but my choice system gave me green light for BuySmartHome, DubaiSuite, ComputerGrants and TheImma dot com.

Well after the first week of trying out the Epik backorder system I'm at 15% success rate.

I caught 4 out of 27 domains I tried for.

@BradWilson Thank You for sharing your results with Epik.

We could change the UX to let you filter on domains that are backordered or not backordered. I need to think about that one. Pros and cons.

Problem with this, others could quickly see domains already backordered and backorder them at Dropcatch, snapnames..

I just spent about an hour looking through the lists (well done Gube) and after adding several names to the cart I was able to see where I was #2 or #3 in line. FCFS is certainly the best and most fair way to handle this process.

However, since we are allowed a finite amount of time on the planet and we don't know when our ticket its going to be punched, I will be unable to allocate the time necessary to go through the list just to end up at the end of the line.

If I had the ability to quickly see if someone else has already back ordered a name it would be a worthwhile project. I would likely go ahead for the #2 position on a name I really like, but it would save me some grief if I knew right away if someone else had back ordered a regular/mediocre name to keep me from considering/adding it.

I don´t believe that my taste of names is statistically representative. Anyway, in the last 5 days I watched
57 dropping domains very close which were taken:
27 Dropcatch.com
18 Epik (31,5% (y))
2 Snapnames
10 other providers
My personal backorder watch for the last 6 days = 71 domains
33 Dropcatch.com
22 Epik (31%)
2 Snapnames
2 NameKing
12 other providers (1 catch each)

I suppose this would be a dynamic online list then which shows the number of earlier orders respectively your rank in realtime.
I am no coder but I imagine an incredible additional effort behind this project. All for $8.49/domain.

I like to work with the Excel sheet of this thread. It is downloaded and opened in seconds, no login necessary. You can filter, sort and add data and do not need to be a spreadsheet guru to do this. All offline and stored on your PC.

I fear that an online solution would take more time, create software bugs and your own workflow mistakes. A big advantage would be the quasi member-only upgrade if you have to login to your Epik account to work with this list. Less competition!

This first come first serve thing includes elements of gaming and of Lotto, doesn´t it? I wish they´d show me the correct (or wrong) lottery numbers when ordering a lotto ticket next time. :sneaky:

Okay, now my wheels are officially turning on this and I might have to add it to my project as a future upgrade - ugh

Well actually that's good I like to stay busy. :)

I'm working on a website to make it possible.
I could add a checkbox to only show domains not backordered yet.
Not sure if I should make it member only, But I will add an option to get an email everytime a new list is published :)
Downloading the full list will still be possible

Not sure if I should make it member only,

It should DEFINITELY be active Epik users only! Lets keep all this good stuff in the family. :xf.grin:

Well I just got some awesome news.

Today I was able to successfully snag a domain using the Epik backorder system I've been watching. I needed this domain to complete a set. Yeah!

Now I have both spellings of color.

That great information you have shared thanks, Any chance you could share the list of the domains you were watching I would be really curious to see if the 31.5 % caught were popular names that Epik were competing with the likes of Dropcatch and Snapnames for?

Good idea but no chance, old data is deleted.

It would be much more revealing to analyze the old droplists in this thread. How many % are taken from the whole inventory, which registrars have been successful, how many % dropped, how many of these have been taken within 24 hours etc. I cannot do that.
Anybody knows if such work already does exist? Should be interesting for every domainer.

But what I can do is post my watchlist from todays drops, results are not yet published. Then you can compare yourself, too.
bikeswork.com bitforbit.com dailymarie.com
dieimmobilien.com eigenbedarf.com fashier.com
gingermoon.com graffitistop.com jijita.com
kreuzfahrtreise.com labseed.com mstation.com
netzgo.com primaenergie.com snowparadise.com
softload.com tokenj.com tokenk.com
tokenw.com wajong.com

My current rate is 6 out of 36 which is exactly 1/6th or 16.67%

I'm guessing I pick more difficult names to get which of course makes perfect sense.

Interesting... I was doing my normal thing which is testing my new system/app and I came upon a nice deleting 5 letter dot com domain. I went ahead and backordered it with Epik and waited. It just stayed in progress even after the drop??? But No.

Turns out I had missed backordering the drop in time and the domain wasn't caught by anyone. So I canceled the backorder and just regged it normal for less. I'll take that any day.

Hello Brad,

Sorry for the experience you had.
Backorders have to be placed before 11:40 MST Time (5-10 minutes before the drop) because our software picks them at that time..
If you have any other question or feedback, I will be happy to help :)

Gube,
