Wow, so we're definitely drenched here. Iowa is really flooded out... probably the worst flood since the 70's. Up on our farm, this is the 4th flood this season so far already - whereas it's only normal to get about 1 flood every other YEAR.

The Mississippi River is normally about 5 miles away from my front door - now it's just 50 feet away (view from our balcony):

More rain on the way:

The water is still going up. They closed I-80 (if you've traveled the US, you've been on it) an hour and a half south of here and routed all traffic through OUR city. I mean, look: http://www.thonline.com/

We flooded earlier as well... and, actually, because of fast river currents, a barge load actually crashed into the bridge from Iowa to Illinois up here:

There's some crazy stuff here. Crazy weather. Tornadoes, too...

A couple more humorous things I'm getting from this:

This first snippet from a local news source:

"It wasn't clear just how high the river had risen because a flood guage was swept away by, well, the river."

The weather radio alarm goes off a lot - the computerized voice always says the recorded messages... it says: "Remember: turn around, don't drown."

There's something really funny about it:

Anyway, exciting weather here, hopefully it doesn't get too bad though. I'm glad we still have power. Several surges though...

WoW, that's pretty...wet...it is time to get the diver's suite out of the closet i guess :)

Hang in there, and hopefully it is not getting worse...

BTW, they need to come up with a solution to transport all the water to here in the south(draught), maybe a pipeline system?

Cheers
