I've got an offer of $350 via email. We've gone back and forth and this is the highest he says he will pay. He's also made a $300 offer via Sedo. He either wants me to take the $350 offer outright or start an auction at Sedo.

How would you proceed?

1. Take the $350.
2. Start an auction at $300 (which means it will sell for that if I get no further bids) and hope for the best.
3. Cancel negotiations if he doesn't want to pay x.

If #3, how much should x be in your mind?

$350 seems to be quite less so 1. is out of question.
I would go for an auction, and ask this guy to put hid best bid there.
Endow is a great name wouldnt let it go for less than 1k if i dont put it thru auction. But thats just me :)

Thanks Krossat! Tried to leave you rep but NP thinks I'm too fond of you!

I believe it's worth at least $1K as well. I'm leaning towards the Sedo auction, but I'm worried that it's too risky to start it at only $300 reserve met. What do you think?

hmm yes i kno wwhat u mean.
Sometimes bidders just dont come by, even if its a good domain. Theres no telling the bids might end up much lower than expected.
Well you have to make a decision here. Fix a minimum price for it and tell the buyer that its either going to be that much or its no deal.
If he doesent accept, its all good. Domains like this one will only grow in price with time. Dictionary domains are the best investments for the future.

Endow

Don't sell yourself short.

I don't know a whole lot about selling domains and most everyone is thinking about some male-emhancement web site but endow.net may have some use to a big University (Harvard, Yale, Stanford etc.) or alumni who handles the endowment at the school.

I would not sell.
I would not take to auction.
I would not be rude.

Good luck.

i would send it to auction @ the $300 offer or negotiate to auction at the $350.

You counter his offer with $1000 and let him/her know that you will start an auction if he sends back at $350.

That seems like a reasonable compromise. and you should get other bidders to about the 500 level

Walk away and let him kno ou are going to hold it for awhile. It's amazing how quickly people who want names can come up with more $$$$

if there's a bid at sedo for $300, then i'd start the auction. for the $50 difference, i'd say it's worth the risk. your low is $300, high? who knows?

I just wanted to give everyone on the thread an update. I've decided to proceed with the auction. The highest offer he wanted to make was $350, but he was willing to offer $300 and take part in the auction, so that's where we are.

Here's the link to my auction or you can just type in Endow.net and click on "this domain may be for sale by it's owner"

Thanks for the advice everyone! Rep has been left for all! :kickass:

Congrats, you took the right decision. The auction was probably your best bet as it lures out the bidder from his safety zone and you'll see how much he can actually afford.
I'd say this name is wroth around $600 maximum but you are sure to get at least $250 at Sedo. Anyway, the $50 doesn't make much of a difference but getting $50 less is better than later regretting selling the name at $350 without knowing how much you could've gotten for it.
