domain Please Appraise Nevada.tel

I'm selling Nevada.tel and I have a $300 $350 offer so far. I've seen several sales for geo .tels in the $1000+ range, including 3 of the 50 states.

Could some of you guys give me an idea on what would be a fair price to settle on for this name? Also, what do you think an end-user would pay for it?

As sucky as .TEL is, GEO domains are about the only thing with any hope.

I would hold out for more than a $300 offer for a major State.tel

$300 is a low offer but can you really expect more ?
I would get rid of it.

$300 seems about right. I sold a state.tel for $300 and was just thankful to get my reg fee back!

Anyone want to make a comment on whether or not I should offer the domain directly to Nevada? Can states or cities claim bad faith and take a domain from someone? If not, what would be a good price to start for an offer to a governmental body? There's also a city called Nevada in Missouri and a Nevada county in California, btw.

I would not offer it to the state of Nevada. Not because of bad faith (not applicable in my opinion) but instead because they would have no interest. Nevada is a gambling friendly state and you can interstate place bets on the phone the last time I heard. Makes you think a bit. But I think $350 is ok fast sale money if you need the cash and want out, but it really should be 2-3 times that considering the state involved. Also are any true end users using a state dot tel? Might be a domainer only thing. Goodluck

Tough extension, indeed. However, you have an exceptional Geo Name. In fact, easily one of the most popular US States to own! IMO, the offer amount is barely a starting point. If you need the money, take it and run. However, if not in need of funds, counter at $1200 and bargain down to your bottom line or a happy medium. Seems it would be quick and easy to reach an amicable price within that range. Congrats on the offer and best of luck with the sale.

Have you done any searches to see if there are any small telephone/cable companies in Nevada? The Bells or Sprints of the world won't be interested, but you may find a smaller company that is interested. You could try to sell the value of the .tel extension for any telephone providers.
