The listing price of DOGE.com has become a topic of intense scrutiny, especially given have Elon Musk’s notable presence in the cryptocurrency realm. As the driving force behind Dogecoin’s popularity, Musk’s connection to the domain offers intriguing insights into the value of meme-based branding today. The domain is currently up for grabs for over $10 million, an amount many expert observers find excessive when juxtaposed against the ongoing discussions about economic efficiency spearheaded by Musk’s new government agency.

PerfectDomain also sold Llama.com to Meta.

Doge is a great domain. Someone bought the longer version Department of Government Efficiency.com for $58k.

What @BYYP said, or just use doge.gov ... more official and no need to buy the .com

.Gov is only for real government agencies, not fake ones.

DOGE is just some advisory thing, with no actual governing role.

As DOGE won't be an official agency, it would not qualify for that extension.

The optics of creating a new "government" agency , with two people doing one job, named after a memecoin, to target efficiency, is pretty amusing.

Spending $10M on a domain for that would make it even more efficient.

I am pretty sure you can't just hand out .gov domains like candy.

There is a big difference between being something that is approved by the government itself, like Congress, and some outside advisory council with no statutory authority or official government role.

I mean Musk already gave himself the fake "official" check mark on X, but the bar for a .gov domain is a lot higher.

I hope for DOGE coin investors sake that this goes well, because the meme agency could really taint the coin if this becomes a shitshow.

Yeah, I mean it makes sense and for a fraction of the price.

That seems like the option that an "efficiency" agency would choose.

Don't worry about the exact TLD, Brad.

The President's vision was audacious: to transform the nation into the world's premier crypto hub, a digital utopia where the government's own cryptocurrency would rival the US dollar. He promised a future of unparalleled wealth and prosperity, a future where every citizen would reap the rewards of the digital revolution.

To realize this dream, vast amounts of energy were required. Supercomputers hummed day and night, processing complex algorithms and securing the blockchain. The energy demands were staggering, far exceeding the nation's power grid capacity.

As the presidential term progressed, the strain on the power grid became increasingly apparent. Rolling blackouts plagued cities and towns, leaving millions without electricity for hours on end. Hospitals struggled to maintain critical services, businesses shuttered, and social unrest began to simmer.

The President, however, remained steadfast. He argued that the future of the nation depended on the success of his crypto project. "We must prioritize the digital economy," he declared, "for it is the key to our prosperity."
A fateful decision loomed. To maintain the operation of the government's crypto mining facilities, the power supply to major cities would have to be curtailed. The choice was stark: the digital future or the physical present.

The government, faced with this impossible dilemma, made a decision that would forever alter the course of the nation. The power was redirected, plunging the cities into darkness. The crypto mining operations continued, their glowing servers a stark contrast to the cityscapes enveloped in blackness.

The once-promised utopia had turned into a dystopian nightmare. The digital currency, once hailed as the savior of the nation, had become a symbol of its downfall. The people, deprived of basic necessities and plunged into despair, turned against their government. The President's dream, born of ambition and greed, had consumed the nation, leaving behind a legacy of darkness and disillusionment.

in the case of it being an organization, would that mean the .org would be more than the .com? (doge.com vs doge.org) ty
