Just ran across the Ebay ad below. I read through the whole thing. Where is the catch?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=11153&item=180006000498

......Notice the line added in small print at the bottom "Please keep the spirit of a mystery auction and dont bid to win both. that takes the mystery out of the auction by almost knowing what you will get. there will be two different winners. thanks!"

Is that it? That's the rip?? He's going to bid on this himself and claim to the legitimate bidder the other person ended up with the 3-letter .com.

Nobody in their right mind would believe this seller has any one word 3-letter .com's let alone would sell them in this style auction..... Stay tuned for a last second $95,946 bid by a mysterious buyer.

OMG- I also bid and won two of these auctions from the same seller. I have refused to pay him until he tells me the registrars of the names, but it takes him like 2 weeks to reply to an email. I've started to get a bit moody with him now as his timeframe is totally unacceptable.
I have also refused to complete payment until he confirms that there are no numbers in the domain(s) but he appears to ignore this request.
TBH I am really sick of waiting for his response- although I will let you know if he does come back to me Kerrijo.
In fact, gonna email him again now... :)

On eBay, Click on "Advanced Search", top right of page, then click "Find contact information", and input your details.

If you want to contact your seller faster this might be the way to go.

Edit:

Don't fancy your chances too much Kerrijo.
Samuelbradfords has had 89 positives and 17 negatives in the last 12 months. Not a great ratio, but I wish you luck.

smells fishy to me, if they are real, he's losing a lot of money. probably selling 2j3.net or something like that.

KJ, sorry for your misery but there have been enough threads on these types of auctions, you should have known. But since he has tried to rip off one of our own... I suggest we give him the "treatment".

You really need to report his practice to ebay. They do not look lightly on scams... Hope it all works out for you (aside from all the grief and time).

I actually emailed the person with ref to the worth $$$$$ in the future. I asked them as they indicate in the ad that they guarentee it will be worth loads, Would they refund me IF i bid and they turned out be worthless, their reply was interesting.

I WILL INCLUDE A .COM 3 CHARACTER FOR A BIN OF $150.

So there was no intention of including a .COM in the original item!!!!!

Well I had actually emailed and told him that I would take a 3 character .com instead of the 3 letter org...they would have to be a really good premium to go for $150...my payment was $112.50...wouldn't you say that was a good amount for a 3 character .com?

Refund received with nice apologetic email.

Thanks to all for your support here, I really do love you guys and hope to meet some of you someday. :)

Glad you got this resolved. To answer your question about 3 char's...

No, check the market "guide", provided by member ZestyDomains.
http://www.3character.com/priceguide.html

This is not set in stone, but you can see NLN .coms or LNL .coms are around $50.00 <<< just as an example, some with meaning could be worth more.

Hey all, I got in just now to read the developments for you and thought i'd share my experience with the same affair, this is what 'sam' had to say in response to a very firm email i sent earlier after reading this thread and discovering others were dealing with the same guy, -as i said before I refused to pay him until i knew the domains were LLL.orgs at worst. His response seems pretty genuine to me Aand its not in my nature to punish someone whose taken this much time to wind an excuse. Anyway here it is:

Chris,

I am not trying to avoid you or hide anything. I have been very busy the past week, and have had football campthe past few days, that is why I have had a hard time contacting you. I gave you my phoen number Hoping you actually WOULD call so we coudl work things out. I am not mad, but i can totally understand why you are, and im goignt o try and explain myself.

When i posted these items at first, i realized that there is a big difference between Letter and Character, and i did not notice this at first. After selling these items, i thought i better pull through and actualyl sell some 3 letter domains. I have a buddy who has several of these, and i did too until i sold each for about $800. What i was actually trying to do with this auction was get rid of a lot of my xx1.orgs and x22.com, xx1.coms off hand, and then this happened. I talk to a buddy and he said he';d be willign to do some trading with me, and this has not gone through yet, and i shouldve contacted you sooner, but i did not. Please do not think of me as a scammer, or dishonest. IF you want a refund, thats what i can give you,

Please let me know

thanks and sorry for all of this
thanks
sam

Fair enough, will email him and say no hard feelings but that he shouldn't ever do these auctions.
:)
