Dynadot Email Contact Confusion: Account and Whois

@Dynadot - Most recently I changed my email contact under "Account Settings" in the Dynadot panel.

Shortly after I received a strong email notice "Account Info Verification" that basically said:

"According to the ICANN Whois Accuracy Program Specification, any account with a generic top-level domain (gTLD) must verify their account information when the gTLD is first added to the account, and any time the account information is changed thereafter."

Which is fine. But how could I expect that making an email change as described, on a page that made no mention close to "Whois".. might actually be applied to each individual domain name? Noting that each domain in by overall account carries its own drop-menu option to select from among a number of email addresses that I have added.

Also, other registrars that I've used having similar setups (such as Moniker for example) do maintain an "account email" which is unrelated with registered domains or Whois contact details.

The mentioned email portion of Dynadot's notice, says more to the effect :
"If your account information isn’t verified by 9/4/2025, which is 15 days from the start of the verification, any gTLDs in your account will be suspended."

So I guess time is somewhat of the essence. With a response to my 1st support request taking over a day to get, that ended up being the same exact notice without addressing any of my questions...

Can we get some better service? If I'm not mistaken I could be facing a 60 day transfer lock on my names.

(additionally while within same: email received)
"To check if you have successfully verified your account information, sign into your account and check your notifications. If you haven’t verified, you’ll have a "gTLD Whois Verifications" notification with a status of "Verifying".

- Looking within "Notifications" -- I see no such "Verifying" referenced.

I think also that is confusing

Mail of Dynadot account owner has nothing to do with domain contact records.

For example, as we run a digital agency, we have at same account many domains of our clients with their details at contact records.
Account email is not at any contact record so changing it has nothing to do with ICANN and should only be verified as usually at all sites

To be honest, I was confused when I got their notice.

Why doesn't Dynadot simply label or make reference to the fact that this is Whois-related somewhere among the generic fields on this critical page? Especially when we're talking a 60 day lock period. Even when you click through to "edit" no mention is being made.

Instead of simply saying "Account Settings/Account Info". Linked to from under "My Info" on their left side nav bar. All sounds informal to me.

Yet by the repeated firmness of their response, I get the impression this isn't exactly an isolated case.

This is the only real problem I've had with Dynadot. Everything else has been truely great.

Now Dynadot did it again, for the second straight time after their initial one.

Just keeps sending the same pre-formatted message that I described above without addressing my concerns.

While I still don't see what was mentioned in the email:

"..check your notifications. If you haven’t verified, you’ll have a "gTLD Whois Verifications" notification with a status of "Verifying".

Not under my "Notifications."

@Dynadot - I'm requesting that you chime in. Provide some level of service.

Today Dynadot support sent out a ditto of that same format message. Apparently their stock answer.

Really I need to know if:

- I can change back to the prior email setting, reflected by "Whois Accuracy Verification" and found within "Account Settings" in the Dynadot panel. If so, will this still initiate a 60 transfer lock period?

- Whether this contact will automatically override individual domain contact settings or not.

Does this serve only as a single point of contact between registrant and Whois for all domains registered?

Hi! Sorry the main Dynadot handle is unavailable while I'm in office so it won't respond to anything. Responding to the questions below:

You can change both your Dynadot information and WHOIS Contact Record info at anytime and it will not trigger any sort of transfer lock. I believe it used to work this way many years ago but ICANN hasn't had it required for some time.

Account Settings will not alter any Domain Contact settings. If you alter a Contact Record that domains are using that would change those specific names, but not all names in your account (unless you only have the one Contact Record that all your names use).

Let me know if that helps, please DM me your username if you need me to answer any account specific questions for you.

Caleb; Thanks much for the reply...

Sorry, I'm kinda fuddled. All I did was change the email under my "Account Panel". This triggered the Dynadot email: " Account Info Verification" which referenced "ICANN Whois Accuracy Program Specification."

So the Dynadot Account info is also used as a point of contact with Whois?

And when you say this won't trigger any transfer lock - does this mean a transfer lock has been "opted out of"?

[Googling the topic returned that a transfer lock will apply, and I have been unable to get a response to my emails from Dynadot,, whose Account Verification email by its wording reads quite serious about getting this info verified, saying " If your account information isn’t verified by 9/XX/2025, which is 15 days from the start of the verification, any gTLDs in your account will be suspended.]

Account Settings will not alter any Domain Contact settings. If you alter a Contact Record that domains are using that would change those specific names, but not all names in your account (unless you only have the one Contact Record that all your names use).

Can I DM you my email send time from today with title? Or you need username?

Would appreciate if you could reply to my email's specific questions summed so as not to ramble on here.

Thanks for the reply... CURRENTLY EDITING PLEASE WAIT A FEW MOMENTS

Sorry but I'm confused. All I did was change the email address under my "Account Panel". This triggered the Dynadot email " Account Info Verification" which referenced "ICANN Whois Accuracy Program Specification."
Yeah that's just our system verifying that it was indeed you who changed the account info. If you don't confirm the changes made your TLDs can be suspended.
Not triggering - so this is correct even without "opting out" of a transfer lock"?
Correct, you're automatically opted out of transfer locks when changing info, just needs to be verified.
