Dublin Tourism is also working with dotMobi in providing content and marketing support for a soon-to-be-launched Dublin.mobi site. The body said that Dublin.mobi has been selected as the flagship portal to showcase to other cities as the template and model for future mobile city sites.

Co-operate with the local businesses, city departments, tourism .. realy the way to go for these .mobi's

Of course Dublin is where Mtld is based so there's the connection. Obviously the city of Dublin guys and the Mtld guys know each other. It would be nice if cities like New York , London and such like would get on the bandwagon.

They would be stupid not to! Geo names and .mobi is a perfect combination. As a tourist you need information all the time and with mobile internet you search for it with your phone while sitting in cafés etc.

Also, don't forget the capital of Finland already have their mobi developed at Helsinki.mobi (where you among other things can find out about current events such as concerts and exhibitions).

Travel books and articles about Dublin and Helsinki will of course mention these sites and as a result more and more people all over the world will discover .mobi. Then they will expect other cities such as newyork.mobi to work as well.

"14.01.2008 - YouTube, dotMobi and the iPod will be key weapons in Dublin Tourism’s bid to attract an additional one million leisure and business travellers to Dublin by 2010.
..."

Sounds a bit like the Spanish Inquisition episode, but we seem to be in very good company.

Many thanks for the good find.
