Drat.com sold for $2k!!! Real or Fake?

I saw drat.com sold at Afternic for just $2k!!! http://www.afternic.com/name.php?id=13928853

I've spent almost 2 month emailing and posting in forums looking for short brandable domains but i never get lucky. All i get was crazy domain seller giving me highball price like yeps.com for 6k, wimpy.com for 10k, mucky.com for 15k, tatty.com for 20k, gassy.com for 35k, looky.com for 50k, ranty.com for 65k, curby.com for 75k....COME ON GIVE ME A BREAK!

This guy just bought drat.com for merely 2k and all i get is stupid highball price??? Is this fake bid or what? I mean a 4 letter dictionary domain for 2k? When i saw the price i almost bang my head to the wall...

.US domains.US domains
I agree. That does seem exceptionally low for that domain name. I would have valued the name at atleast 5k possibly seeing as much as 10k. For 2,000 I would have gladly picked it up too!

The worst thing is i saw this domain in Afternic at first and i emailed the owner and she told me the price is 7.5k. Few days later when i check back to Afternic she sold to a guy for 2k!!!!! I feel like shouting WTF!

"Drat" is more commonly used. "Drats" is apparently a blending of "drat" and "rats". :)

And I agree that this was a real bargain for the buyer!

drat - As a word, it's rather unattractive huh?

The buyer must be using an acronym for something, D.R.A.T.

why would it be good news for them?

Bcoz whenever a 4 letter .com goes for high prices it encourages the 4 letter .com holders to stick to them for future benifits.

But it is a four letter "one word" .com which is somewhat different. JMO

None of them even close to the worth of drat.com because it is 4 letter dictionary word and brandable. I rather pay 2k for drat than any of the domain listed above.

To me the word drat is good enough because it got the meaning of damn or darn. I rather take drat.com than fark.com, at least drat wouldn't cause typo and it didn't sound rude.

When she told me 7.5k i didn't say anything because i couldn't afford it and after emailing so many people for 5 letter word and the price they give me already so ridiculously high so i never even dare to dream about buying a 4 letter domain. I didn't know that she is going to sell it for 2k for god sake. If i know she is going to sell it that low i've already bid for 3k.

Nah, i won't even pay 1cent for domains like votq, btap, gotm...comeon they just don't make sense. drat is a dictionary word so nothing can beat that.

Yes drat is a 4 letter word but so is piss and you would'nt want to call your company that would you (unless it was porn related :hehe: )

I don't see drat as an attractive, brandable word to be honest - each to their own :)

Seems even 4 letter .com's that mean things like this are in demand.

People often sell domains for half/one third/one quarter or less of the asking price, if you haven't made an offer you aren't in the game.
