Recently purchased a Toshiba P205-S6267 satellite looks like pretty good bang for the buck but it doesn't have any instructions, I can't believe it.

It has a built in web cam which I haven't figured out how to get the mic or sound to work with.

It also has labelflash built in which is for laser printing labels for cd's.

It has windows vista home premium.

Shouldn't these be sold with directions for people like myself that are less computer saavy?

I have no idea how to start the label flash.

I'm assuming you bought it brand new... which store did you purchase this at? Sounds strange... :-/

Well Gateway got to where they won't provide backup disks. You're supposed to restore from the hd which never works properly when you actually need to use it.

I guess these are the new cost-cutting measures these companies use, lol.

If labelflash is like lightscribe (where it burns the label directly to the disc), it acts as a printer driver within your CD label program, you simply "print" to the cirrect side of the disc.

Any installation discs? Docs may be on those.

You can lose me quick here, It I believe came with a back up and windows vista cd but I had the computer GEEKSquad come out and hook up the wireless router, install Trend Micro antivirus and webroot spy sweeper.

No instruction manual at all and the GEEK wasn't very communication friendly.

I would take it back. Their is a good chance someone brought it back to the store and they just put it back out as new.

I really don't think so, they were boxed and packaged like new. Be strange to get (2) with no instructions.

Do other laptops come with instruction manuals?

Generally one of the discs you get would have some sort of instructions on it.. no 800 number to call on the box or anywhere?

And apparently labelflash is a variant of lightscribe so they work about the same ... it's pretty intuitive (or should be). If you go in your labelflash labeling program and create a label, it should just be as simple as choosing print. Just put the disc in the drive label side down and print it.

I can remember years ago getting a computer with SIX printed manuals.. these days, you're lucky if you get a folded piece of paper.

Okay, maybe that's it, I have an unopened cd that says Recovery and applications/Drivers Media Instructions.

It goes on and reads like it's just a recovery disk but maybe it has more.

My 2002 Dell laptop came with a thick, heavy instruction manual, along with a boatload of CDs and miscellaneous instructions.

I'll have to find an article that urges buyers NOT to buy, of all things, notebooks from Best Buy. They rarely accept refunds, even when the damage is their fault. Not to scare you or anything. :hehe:

I don't think that's it, it says on the cd once you start it do not stop it or you can seriously damage your system and reformat the hard disk.

Must be just the back up.

No instructions.

I bought a Dell desk top in 02 with 3.1 gig it was and is good one, just got 22" monitor for it from compusa.

I love the laptop It's the way to go, I just have to figure out how to use the options it offers.

Crazy it has no instructions that explain things to you.

It came with a small manual telling you silly things not to do.

Weird -- they give you an "instruction" manual on things not to do...

I'd get in contact with Toshiba; it's very strange there's no documentation, considering my Dell came with a book that explained every aspect of the computer and Windows XP.

That's another thing, Windows Vista, I know very little about it. I'm sure there's info out there on that though.

I bought a new laptop and it had instructions on how to setup the computer (Power cords, ect.) but I don't believe there was a manual. I could be wrong though.

Have you tried going to a Toshiba forum and asking any questions you have there? That might be your best bet if the store won't give you any instructions.

No I haven't, I'll try it though, it seems like there's a forum for just about everything.

I'd like to know if I can use the webcam to take a pic of my mug and post it to this forum.

My cousin once bought an Xbox 360 from bestbuy only to find out that it had been used because it had Halo 2 stuck in its drive and it looked like the drive had been tearing up the disc. We returned it and they gave us the BS story that they would never put something back on the floor that was returned.
