Going by stats .guru is already showing good traction. I have registered
- eternalnirvana.guru : Plays on the 'guru' part people do actually look for gurus when it comes to spirituality and religion.
- travelbargains.guru : travel is one of the biggest categories online
- personalinvestments.guru : i think 'guru' adds a stamp of authority to anyone owning this name and sharing advice in the finance space
Happy to hear the group's thoughts on these names.
In this case, travel.bargains and personal.investments would be best. Though, I'm sure the original (didn't check the websites) owner had to have paid more than general availability for them.I am not a huge fan of the new extensions in general, but if I was forced to buy some it would be with one word on the left and one on the right. Phrase hacks separated by a dot. I don't think most 2 word terms are strong enough to have value in these extensions, with some exceptions.
Eternal Nirvana is only taken in .COM. It is available to reg in NET, ORG, and pretty much any other extension.
Travel Bargins - It is a decent two word term in a marginal extension. There are plenty of substitutes for that term - Travel Discounts, Travel Deals, Discount Travel, etc.
Personal Investments - I don't think anyone who is serious about investments would use a .GURU. It just looks unprofessional and cheesy.

It's really up to the domainers (registrars) to shove it down peoples throats. If we're passive holding onto good names, we'll drop and registrars win. If we're active, we could make sales off of the marketing that registrars are putting in.No official sale in this extension since April according to dnpric.es and no real search volume on Google.
Good luck with this extension, I like a lot of new extensions but this.... Gonna interesting looking at the stats in the coming year for this kind of domains.

However, names that just don't make sense in the ngTLD or are just plain bad (.ooo, .xyz) aren't going anywhere.
I would have to disagree. If my memory recalls, .guru was the first to be pimped out by GoDaddy for many weeks. But hey probably the marketing making that effect, but there are no such marketing for .guru.

I think you are referring to .xyz in this... not sure what you're getting at. Not defending .guru in anyway, I think it's a poor ngTLD unless used for a CTA page.So .guru hire popular bloggers, fake reg domains every day, give away 500k domains for free, and buys http://com.com and so on?

Yup the differance in marketing between the two pretty useless extenstions, whereas one leads to a better aftermarket and one to an non-existent aftermarket. But in the end both are shit, no offence![]()
Stop holding back ...tell us what you really think!
