Hey guys,

so I'm not a native speaker. In German we dont have the term real estate - we call it something like "immovable property" (immobilien in German). The short form DOT IMMO is widely accepted and an industry standard. Basically DOT immobilien is too long and I wouldn't even consider buying such a name, because I believe a lot of gTLDs will shut down in a few years, especially the long extensions (over 6-7 characters)

By the way if you ever need help with German connotations drop me a PM maybe I can help you out..

So my question:
What would you rather own a DOT ESTATE, DOT PROPERTY, DOT HOUSE, DOT REAL ESTATE for a real estate broker or do you prefer going into niche domains such as .VILLAS, .CONDOS, etc.

I am looking at sales stats and DOT ESTATE is doing quite well. It also had several sales over 20k, but DOT HOUSE is doing even better. However that doesn't mean anything if the industry decides that they like DOT ESTATE better than the rest and will ignore DOT HOUSE in the coming years.

Just looking for opinions, it's obvious what the extensions are intended for but sometimes the industry goes into directions you didnt anticipate :)

Cheers

Update: Wouldnt let me edit the poll question, is supposed to be "do you automatically associate real estate with DOT ESTATE"

When I think of "Estate", my first thought is about the posessions of the deceased. So when Realtor Bob Smith gets an estate domain it looks like this, BOBSMITH.ESTATE. But my first though is that poor Bob Smith has died and I can go to this domain to buy things from his estate.:(

Yea, like an ESTATE sale, that makes sense to me (as a non native speaker)

Just wondering if any broker would see this differently?

Only site I could find that uses "estate" in its domain and focuses on real estate:
http://www.luxuryestate.com/

Should be interesting to see if brokers will use .realestate or .estate or prefer niche domains

.estate is nothing special IMO. I would not really even associate it with real estate.
It is used more for things like estate planning & estate sale than actually selling real estate.

Real Estate is by far the #1 term. Then terms like homes, property, etc.
