I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

Yep, and just like RBC, they probably budgeted an appropriate amount for the domain.

Contrast that with the losers at CIBC, who couldn't afford simpli.com, so they registered the idiotic simplii.com.

I can't fathom even asking $50k for that domain - let alone actually receiving it.

I think CIBC will regret that decision! Just out of curiosity do you know what the asking price was for simpli.com?

No idea, I just heard they didn't want to pay up, and it really couldn't have been that bad compared to $$ billions $$ in illicit profits. I wouldn't say it would be over the $50K RBC paid for the .CA, and it's likely just a case of "penny smart-pound stupid", as in "They want how much? Screw it, just add another "i" and that'll teach 'em!"

Personally I think it is brilliant marketing and a trademark easily protected.
