I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

Yea I read the requirements, non of which give me a work around , I'll keep searching thanks Bri ( I did think about leasing as an option too)
Just came from the marijuana thread...seems there is somewhat of a "work-around" for non-Canadians..it is registering your domain in (dot)to

".to is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) of the island kingdom of Tonga."

""T.O." is also a common nickname for Toronto, Ontario, Canada and is used as a city domain extension as exemplified by popular Toronto sites www.dine.to (Dining in Toronto) and www.jobs.to (Job Bank Toronto). This domain extension is also used for the city of Torino (Turin), Italy."

I have

VrGirls.ca great for vr adult site
VrDate.ca you don't have to leave home to date
VrSexToys.ca

and not much interest in names unless your building it out on your own.

RBC and WestJet partner on new Ampli loyalty platform

The Canadian Press
Published June 13, 2018
Updated June 13, 2018

WestJet Airlines Ltd. is teaming up with the Royal Bank of Canada to create a new loyalty program that aims to attract a โ€œvery substantialโ€ group of โ€œvery unhappyโ€ customers from the Aeroplan program, which its rival Air Canada is preparing to replace in 2020.

WestJet and RBC said Wednesday that they will launch the Ampli loyalty platform with offers and rewards for customers by the end of the year.

Wow, that's like hitting the .CA lottery.

Yes, it's proof that a so-so name registered almost 3 years after the registry opens to the public, can result in a killer sale (50K USD!). A domainer's dream come true :)

A brandable name no less!

Who do I contact at RBC to pick up saver (.) ca ;)

I wonder if they contacted the seller with an rbc.com email address ;) Or maybe the seller was asking 75k and rbc haggled it down to 50k. Oh to be a fly on the wall :)

Do you think they chose the name before looking for the domain? The mind reels...

Yep, and just like RBC, they probably budgeted an appropriate amount for the domain.

Contrast that with the losers at CIBC, who couldn't afford simpli.com, so they registered the idiotic simplii.com.

I think CIBC will regret that decision! Just out of curiosity ;) do you know what the asking price was for simpli.com?

No idea, I just heard they didn't want to pay up, and it really couldn't have been that bad compared to $$ billions $$ in illicit profits. I wouldn't say it would be over the $50K RBC paid for the .CA, and it's likely just a case of "penny smart-pound stupid", as in "They want how much? Screw it, just add another "i" and that'll teach 'em!"
