I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
The TM's aren't worth the headaches. Disregarding the legalities and the technical BS it's just bad juju. Profiting off the bones of what others have built will come around.
As long as I have been doing this "crazy thing called domaining"..I come to the conclusion, that anyone that deals with TM (parking etc) are in the same category as Blackhatters/spammers..they are in it for the short run

Nice 4L/word acquisition @MapleDots @m-i-k-e

I've dropped almost all of my .ca over the last few years, all I have left is:

disabilityservices.ca
dnshop.ca
doodlebug.ca
easygames.ca
evoting.ca
footballacademy.ca
homeshares.ca
kissmethod.ca
myvi.ca
netvoting.ca
pressurecookers.ca
sportclimbing.ca
surfpark.ca
webvoting.ca

Considering selling them all off and getting out of domaining...

^ Have you tried direct outbound to CA businesses, or even getting out and walking into Bricks and Mortar? Many have settled on mediocre names, using someone else to choose their names, not being aware they are able to improve.

But if your .ca names are along lines of "b u c h a r e s t. c a" can't see the connection or why this name would be appealing to a Canadian business.

Sears is a surname as well, not just TM brand. Have not looked what's dropping, but some combinations might work as this.
Just picked up....

Smart grab Maple. Can we say tick-tracker site?

The perfect EMD for an authoritative resource website for those suffering from the disease.

Where did you pick it up?

It was brokered through Afternic but I know it was owned by a member here.
Not at liberty to discuss more than that because I have had discussions with the member in the past.

One of my other businesses can make really good use of that domain, I will probably develop the site.

Of course.

Looking forward to seeing how it turns out!

I've read that it's becoming more prevalent due to climate change. The tick is better able to survive our warmer winters.

Warmer winters? Anywhere north of Toronto now has 6 full months of snow, from late-Oct/early-Nov into late-Apr/early-May.

It wasn't long ago that most Christmas' were green, but lately I am crossing my fingers we don't get snow for the start of November.

Lyme/ticks big concern/scare up here...

Have a project on the go and since I couldn't get the "com" got the next best thing..the (dot)ca! My third choices are (dot)net or org! If the projects fail, will have 'backlinks" which is added value to a end user!

MakeWords.ca

Lyme's is not something to screw around with. A simple walk in the woods is no more. A site with the ability for user input, with some sort of map of the Golden Horseshoe, or even beyond (for Briguy territory), will be crucial to have soon. People could mark where they've gotten bit by the deer tick, areas to be extra-careful of..

Love the potential. Good luck with the name, whether or not you develop it.

The last 2 winters were cold and snowy in The Rockies but the trend the last 15 years is definitely warmer.

In Ontario and Quebec, I am just not seeing it, and the last 5+ years have consistently recorded record low temperatures and extended 6-month winters. Hell, snow in May is now a regular occurrence.

Y'allz forgetting that one of the predictions of the climate change model is more precipitation. More snow, more rain.

Actually... warming temps will trigger the next ice age.... which some scientists are saying we are in the beginning of right now. :)

Warmer dosent mean hotter.. it can mean -10 instead of -15...

Well, to get super duper technical, we've never left the last ice age..the next ice age would just be a continuation.

Sure, but the problem is that the rain we used to get in Oct, Nov and Dec/ March, April and May is now snow due to the drop in temperatures. This is backed up by hard data, and this year was the coldest April on record in many parts of Ontario and Quebec.

As a family we have been getting together for Christmas since probably 1994 when everyone went off to school and work, and it was usually a green Christmas every year, with maybe a dusting of snow, but the last 5 years have been impossible due to the massive snowfall, ice storms and other insane weather conditions around November-December. We used to take the snow tires off in early-March, but now they stay on til May.
