I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

Guys,

I just noticed one of the domains I sold last year was dropped...

Should I register it and try to sell it to them a second time? Or, is that just way too evil...? xD

If you think that it was a mistake, and they let it expire without realizing (if Microsoft can do that with Hotmail, any company can!), the professional thing would be to contact the original seller and perhaps help them recover it.

If they no longer have interest (e.g. now use a different domain), it would depend on how generic the name is and whether you think there would be other potential purchasers, and whether potential purchasers would find it a positive or negative that it was used by someone else recently.

It's a business, if you think the person is still using the domain, or there are other potential buyers then yes. It's hard to really say not knowing the name.

good luck

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they're just disorganized and made a mistake.

I'm gonna go ahead and bring it to their attention. Otherwise, my conscience won't let me sleep... x)

Not evil at all. I sold zazz.ca 2 years ago and I got a notice that it was expiring March 18. Watched it hard! Unfortunately it was renewed March 19.

I too experienced similar situations sometimes.

Evil...or savvy? Fine line, but it would be an easy pitch to them. Register it, let them know as an investor you always monitor names and have acquired the name again. Give them the opportunity to buy it back, I wouldn't give it away as you have invested time into it.

I already notified them. x]

But, I'll let you guys know what the name was, if/when they respond. The moral dilemma will probably make more sense then...

Is it wrong to answer a condescending, insulting, written offer about me not being able to make a go of a domain for 20ys ( when I have only had the domain for a year ) so I should let it go for $500 ....

I may have let that name go for $500 for the right person / offer, but instead I replied F-you the price is now $10k?

If you’re happy to let it go for 500 but declined because of what you perceive to be a rude email then I think you made a mistake.... but, if you think it’s worth more than 500 then you did the right thing.

An offer is an offer regardless of how rude the offer maker is. If that name is worth more than $500 you made the right decision. If you are truly looking to be insulted try cold calling - it's Next Level!

I love it when they say "So you're a domain name scammer huh?"

You go. Everyone gets their panties in a bunch nowadays, worrying more about how something is said rather than getting it done or moving on. And not just in domaining..governments, workplaces etc. Sure good communication is a constant work in progress, but imagine the productivity lost due to the amount of hand-wringing we've been seeing over the last couple of years because of perceived offences to our feelings.

The name is worth more than $500, I have no problem waiting, fist point of contact... when it comes in like that I would rather kill the conversation, put a high bin price and leave it, see what happens.

Being in business by yourself you I have some flexibility with who i do business with. Money isn't the end all be all believe me lol I don't have much of it, but i still have enough to not have to deal with inquires that are in poor taste.

just my opinion.

Dan

p.s. maybe i should not have replied the way i did but after a few beer sitting in a lounge looking out at surfers at long beach... it seemed good at the time lol.
