I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

we all make mistakes buddy
I usually see recent domain sales at sedo or dnjournal to see what .coms sold recently then check .ca availability
I have 200 names i think are red hot I want to register but no hurry, could care less and am working on developing or selling current names.

I still cringe every time I visit this .ca domain thread at the memory of a single word, 3 letter, French dictionary .ca domain that we... let drop due to a CC billing error (expired card, etc)...

Alas, the past is the past.

I'm still game to participate in an Eastern (Montreal / Ottawa) area get together subject to scheduling of course.

Anyone here focus on checking available .com's for registered .ca ? (When the name is reasonably generic and brand-able)... ?

Rob

I do the reverse. I look for good .coms with strong keywords and then check to see if .ca is available. I have a fairly strong and growing list of .ca's to register. Just waiting for time and money to buy and mini-site.

ChevyParts.ca is looking pretty nice there dude,I feel the more .ca domains are developed the more credibility they will have.
Also asking people in coffee shops, seniors, kids do you know what .ca means when you surf the web.
Most everyone knows its Canadian and some say they L00k for the .ca
I asked if they new they could have their own website for 10 bucks a year and they are shocked some thought it was thousands!!!Spread the Word .ca is Canadian,eh

It seems to me that sibername.com would be a perfect place for .ca domain registrations. It happened so that it is the most reliable and cheap place. Thanks a lot for your useful advises, my choice is sibername.

Anyone looking for a nomination to CIRA? I got an e-mail saying they would like nominations. It would be nice to have some domainer representation at the table.

Anyone know what's going on with the drop today? Not even the crappy gobbledygook number domains haven't dropped yet.

Have I got the right day and time?:-/

I picked up two today

Now each week I pick a few domains from the list I like and wait for TBR to complete and then go scavenge for the leftovers. most of the time they are gone and from what is left I have to really like it to actually buy it.

So this week I bought

Biased.ca

I really thought that one would be gone as the dictionary words seems to be picked up.

The other one I watched drop over a month ago and it always bugged me. Now I know that l-l.ca domains aren't everyone's cup of tea but they seem to be picked up when they drop. This one wasn't and for the life of me I don't know why.

H-K.ca

Strictly on the Hong Kong connection this should have been picked up by someone during the drop. No?

Just wondering

I have a similar strategy to yours. I wait for the drop to be complete before I pick over the leftovers. I passed on "biased" because I couldn't figure out how to monetize it. I need my buys to begin earning right away.

I've often wondered what the market is for the dictionary names. I really haven't seen a way to monetize most of them.

Exactly 30 days from the expiry date the owner looses control
and usually the first Wednesday following that is when they go to
auction - if no bids or backorders they drop. (RE: Namepros.ca)

Sales are down. End user sales for me are still one or two a month but everyone is looking for a bargain. MyID had some decent sales and should be or already has posted sales from last week's auction.
