So far, I've only got 3 ideas for marketing the website:

1. Post on forums from big-boards that have a userbase of 14-21years old

2. I can get vinyl stickers with my website url + slogal for $25 per 250. I live in a big party/college town, so I could get these and slap them all around town/on campuses.

3. Get a myspace account with thousands of friends and post bulletins as I upload new videos.

What techniques would you use to market a website like this? Do my techniques seem logical?

I think idea no. 1 and 2 sound logical and good enough to attract your target audience to your site. With these modes of promotion your site will get maximum attention and get loads of targeted traffic.

Quite frankly, it's hard to quickly increase website traffic. When you submit a site to a search engine or a directory, it takes a while before it gets listed and the effects start to show. However, if you happen to be a webmaster of a new site, you know that it is difficult to wait for the traffic to start growing. There's nothing that would sound better than receiving a few hundred or thousand visitors within the next day or two, but how are you going to make that happen?

there are many possible solutions, the best way to increase website traffic for a brief period of time is to write newsletter articles. All that is required is an idea, decent writing skills, a couple hours of time and someone who would be interested in publishing your work.

Also If I can also add that if you want to get into Search Engines don't use the "Add URL" form with Google at http://www.google.com/addurl.html. Believe it or not, using that form to let Google know about your site will actually hurt your PR and, at the same time, make Google rank you lower. In other words, you absolutely never want to use that form, or the similar form on any other search engine, to promote your website.

By extension, that also means that you absolutely never use any automated "website submission software," either. Those are the things that claim they'll submit you to some incredible number of search engines with a single click.

Never use those. Ever. Unless you like lousy rankings. In that case, go right ahead.

What do you base that comment on? Personally, adding to msn has resulted in almost immediate indexing of all pages, including decent rankings. Not sure about Google, would you mind pointing to a reference where I can get more information about this?
