Don't pump gas on May 15th!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MARK IT IN YOUR DAY PLANNER, ON YOUR CALENDAR, IN YOUR CELL PHONE,
ON YOUR LAPTOP or WHEREVER YOU CAN AND WILL BE REMINDED!!!!!
In April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest of gas prices.
Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.

On May 15th 2007, all Internet users are to not go to a gas station in protest of high gas prices.
Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places.

There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the Internet network,
and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up.

If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take $2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION)
out of the oil companies pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station
on May 15th and lets try to put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for at least one day.

If you agree (which I cant see why you wouldn't) resend this to all your contact list. With it saying,
''Don't pump gas on May 15th"

As a side note, the owner of exxonmobil makes $73,000 a minute in "Profit" That's $73,000 "A MINUTE" every minute of every day. Don't ever buy gas at exxon. If you'll notice, exxon is usually anywhere from 8cents to 18cents higher then the guy across the street. Probably explains his profits.

It will likely never happen again (1997's price drop) but I've already decided I'm not pumping gas May 15th. Not to be negative, but it's not going to happen. :(

Interestingly enough, the gas station I'll be working at opens May 15th.

Please check with a site like snopes.com before spreading junk like this.

Excerpt:
"The premise behind all these messages is inherently flawed, because consumers' not buying gasoline on one particular day doesn't affect oil companies at all. The "gas out" scheme doesn't call upon people to use less gasoline, but simply to shift their date of purchase and buy gas a day earlier or later than they usually would. The very same amount of gasoline is sold either way, so oil companies don't lose any money."

"Moreover, the primary potential effect of the type of boycott proposed in the "gas out" messages is to hurt those at the very end of the oil-to-gasoline chain: the independent service station operators, who have the least say in setting gasoline prices. (Independents are at the mercy of a very volatile oil market and operate on thin profit margins, and even a single day's disruption of supply or demand can wipe out many days' worth of hard-earned profits.) As such, the "gas out" is a punch on the nose delivered to the wrong person."

I agree it does hurt the little guy, I live in a
small community and I know most of them.
But it's Petro Canada that I won't be buying
gas from - their prices go up 2 days before everyone
else's does...how come?
does their gas prices go up before anyone else's?

Minimum is $3.40~ here. What's going on oil companies?!

Not buying gas for a day is the shortest sight idea I have ever heard of - what does it matter if you just buy it 12 hours later? Sheesh.

How about modifying your gas consumption habits to cut the use in half? Now that would really freak out the gas companies because it would reduce demand and prices would have to plummet to reduce inventories.

Economics 101. I don't understand why anyone past a high school education falls for a "no gas day".

its all about supply and demand, if the demand isn't high the supply is, there for lower prices.

TBH, one day isn't going to make a big difference.

Sorry gang, guess I fell for it too. I did a little research myself after the post here and elsewhere and found that the so called 30 cents a gallon drop overnight never even happened.

That said, you'd think if everyone and I mean everyone didnt buy gas for just one day it would have some kind of impact. Atleast now I know where to invest when I hit the lottery LOL

I think it's more of making a statement than making a dent.

Never took that class....high school or college! Good thing too,
cause my opinion is my own and I wouldn't want some teacher
telling me I can't join in something to voice MY beliefs!

E85 and other fuels like it are what we need more of.

I am getting ready to convert a old Mercedes, or VW diesel to run Waste Vegetable Oil. I can get all I want from a fried chicken place down the road.

Free fuel is good fuel. :)
