Hey nP members,



we all know that the TLD space has changed completely.

While we can see many creative and great domains made from new TLDs we can see much more really weird and pointless .combinations - means weird and pointless domain name combinations in the .com extension - it often just looks like that 'it must be a .com in every case - no matter how pointless the name combination itself is'.

There are now so many opportunities to 'label' meaningful domain names with a new TLD - I personally recommend .top for the optimum / best 'label' - don't think .com is the future.

I think it's a political reason (USA / CHINA) that the biggest registrar in the world GODADDY still doesn't support .top - or is there another reason why this undenieable succesfull TLD (see https://namestat.org for current reg. numbers) isn't offered there?

It's a daily statistic, it will change with time - don't be confused.
Also it's just a tool like estibot.

I don't give much about those stats or spammers - because I stay focused on the good high quality domains, for example my own.

Your 'spam spam spam' posts are... garbage and ...spam.

Most spam definitely comes from .com - everybody knows that, just open your spamfolder to see it.

Perhaps the reason that Godaddy and some other North American and European registrars are not accredited for .top is because it is primarily a Chinese TLD. Approximately 88% of domains in .top are Chinese registered with Japan having a 2% share. The US share is 0.8%. There for it is not a priority for registrars outside the Chinese market to get accredited. This would mean that the registrars think that there is no market in North America or Europe for the .top gTLD.

GoDaddy's marketing team is traditionally stupid...
For example, they got .PRO-accreditation in Feb'16 after ~12 years since it was launched (2004).
And even as of now .PRO is NOT supported by their Auctions and also NOT offered among available TLDs when checking keywords...

Godaddy's marketing team is not stupid. That's why Godaddy is the biggest domain name registrar in the world. The .PRO gTLD was never a wide market player as it had restrictions on registrations for most of its existence. It had originally been for degreed and professional registrants. However that model didn't work out well and it was massively overtaken by .COM and the rise of the ccTLDs. The large registrars concentrate on the mass-market TLDs and forget about the tiny or niche TLDs.

Those restrictions were absolutely formal since Sep'2008... and were completely lifted in Nov'15.
And all this timeframe .PRO had 4-figure and even 5-figure aftermarket sales.

But what you have got to remember is that large registrars don't think the same way as domainers. They are in the business of selling as many domain names as possible to as many customers as possible every day. They are volume businesses. The PRO domain count (376K or so) puts it in the same category as many of the new gTLDs in terms of registrations.

Take a look at the biggest registrar in the set. The market for .PRO seems to be dominanted by one Chinese registrar.

124,546. It isn't a Tier 1 TLD.
