Domaintools' Whois.sc

For years, even after their branding change to DomainTools, typing the normal "whois.sc/domain.com" into my address bar would redirect me to "whois.domaintools.com/domain.com". All was right with the world.

It seems today that typing "whois.sc/domain.com" in no longer redirects me to my whois results that I wanted, but rather just to "whois.domaintools.com," where I have to enter my domain again. >:(

Maybe I'm just lazy, but I'd rather type "whois.sc/domain.com" into my address bar wherever I am rather than typing out "whois.domaintools.com/domain.com". Oh well -- I guess I have a reason to get the Firefox Search extension that allows me to search DomainTools' whois -- at home, at least.

Until then, I'll just have to remind myself of what I think of these people for doing this to me when I type in whois.domainTOOLS.com. :p ;)

That is annoying, not sure why they would do that. Hopefully they didn't mean to and will change it back.

i usually go to whois.sc personally myself. Its really big and easy LOL!

Anyways you can also type is google "whois domain.com" the whois info will come up in the search results as well. Although steve you do (did) have the laziest way to find a whois record LOL.

It's been saying to change our bookmarks for years though... hasn't it?
whois.sc now redirects to whois.domaintools.com whereas there was that landing page before- looks like a simple redirect has been set up on the name so I get the feeling the whois.sc/domain.com shortcut won't be returning. I'd like to see what'd happen if whois.sc is left to expire- that's one I wouldn't mind owning! (Although even with the big price risea to register/renew an .sc domain I doubt that'll happen).

Thanks to autocomplete in Safari's address bar, all I type is 'wh' and 'whois.domaintools.com/' automagically appears so then I can just type the domain, so I'm not in least worried.

I use that feature all the time as well, too much hassle typing in the full address.

They could end up losing alot of traffic because of this, people will start to use a different easy to remember url.

Maybe somebody with a really short domain can help us out!

Can someone that intends on keeping a domain for a long period of time set it up so that it acts like whois.sc used to? :!:

Guys,

if you are using firefox you can actually add DomainTools whois shortcut to your "firefox search tool" so that you no longer need to type whois.sc/whatever.com inside your internet browser search bar. Just type the domain name you wish to whois example: google and press enter and you got it. This way you save some time and hassle. Hope this help your trouble of typing long url whois.domaintools.com/example.com

you can also use it to search a long key pharse. Example: i am lonely . It will automatically remove the space and add .com for you.

Considering that Domaintools' parent company, Name Intelligence, is both an ICANN accredited registrar and an offical registrar for the .sc registry...GOOD luck getting the name  If you ever do, shoot me an email with your asking price :sold:
