Domaintools stops free whois (Whois.sc)

Just tried to do a whois check at whois.sc (now domaintools ... stupid name, fantastic looking site) and it requires registration. I hate sites that require registration ... I guess I'll be taking my whois searches elsewhere.

DomainTools.com is from a company called Name Intelligence, Inc. I think it was a good strategy to come back to .com, but now .sc names are out of luck because whois.sc was the big name that brought attention to that ccTLD.

Doesn't really matter to me im acually happy about it. Now I won't get as much spam. With so many low ball offers.

Hey guys, thanks for bringing this to our attention. There are still some bugs on the site, assuming you have most browsers features turned on. You should be allowed 25 lookups without logging in. Please keep us posted.

Hi Jay,

Just tried this today and blocked me on my second query. I ended up using netsol.com whois to check a domain record.

Great service using whois.sc but user will not do it twice to find a whois record.
