Which one is better? why.

Some more questions..

a) How to optimize my domain to receive best revenue?
b) Which type of domains get most traffic?
c) What are the differences between unique, searches, clicks?
d) How come I have different prices for clicks? $0.05, $0.50, $1.27? <-- DomainSponsor
e) Have to optimize your domains in domainhop but not domainsponsor?

Thanks,
Flora.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
DS tracks uniques by cookies, if a visitor has cookies disabled then they are not counted as a unique but still count for a search and/or click. I have a few domains that show 0 uniques for certain days, yet 4-5 searches, 2-3 clicks, and $2-5 revenue.

And PremiumHosted, I too once felt completely satisfied with DH, then decided what the hell let me test DS with 10 names, and am now definitely glad that I did. Don't settle for less, park each domain at the sponsor that will return the most.

When I parked some of my domains in domainhop, it does not bring me as much revenue as in domainsponsor. Maybe I don't know how to optimize them..I don't know..

Depends on the name, that's the bottom line.

LittleHairlessDogs.whatever would probably be better at DH just at their default setting.

NewHomeLoanOffice.whatever would probably be better at DS.

I've heard it can be difficult to be "accepted" for an account at domainsponsor.com. That sounds stranage to me, is it true? I'd like to give them a try.

Maybe I will give them a try a bit later.

Signup for DS as my referral, and if they reject your application, let me know, and I will try to pull a few strings. :)

I think the moral of the story may be that you need both ;)

I actually use 3. I test each new domain that I register, catch, or purchase at Trafficz, then DH, then DS. 90% generally stay at DS after I evaluate the results. A few get moved back to trafficz and a few back to DH, but it is well worth the time involved in testing at each place, because some names can have big differences weather it be the landing pages look, the results, the bid provider, etc...

I use 4 (Sedo, Fabulous, DH and DS), and test each domain I acquire on each of them. It takes over a month to determine the best place to park the domain and there will be a little revenue lost on this procedure but I find this necessary to maximize the earnings in the long run.
Not all domains work at a specifc PPC company so finding the right one would be the way to go.
I find that for most of my domains DS is the best option, after extensive testing and evaluation my portfolio tend to follow this trend : 70% DS, 15% Fabulous, 10% Sedo, 5% DH.

Another thing worth mentioning is that if you have a portfolio of decent targetted keywords or 1000 or 1500 uniques or more /day you are qualified for DS Permier account which definately is better paying than any other programs.

Good luck with the search.

Do you tend to build a site before parking in order to get a domain's unique visitor numbers up?

The thing I dont like about DS is that you have to host the domain. It doesnt grab 404 errors. :(

You do not need to host the domain, use www.proredirect.com (nameservers ns1.proredirect.com and ns2.proredirect.com), This service is run by DS, and yes all 404 and subdomain traffic are caught by using proredirect.

Are we allowed to put their code on our 404.shtml page? If so with me hosting I can redirect my error pages to them. Just not sure they allow it.....

I am not sure if you can put their code there, but why not just redirect your 404 traffic from developed sites directly to a domain that is parked with them?

Heather at DS told me on the phone this was against their TOS. I also asked about using my default frame forwarding URL for newly registered domains. That to was a no-no.

Here is what gets me about what she told me. Lately when some of my customers register domains the default eNom IP for parked pages is pointing towards a DS ID of 1637.

hmm I emailed after I posted here and

Heather C. Bell
Sales Support Specialist
DomainSponsor.com

told me it was allowed.... She also told me it was allowed to put it on normal sites 404.shtml's. Because it would be "expired link" traffic.... So now I am wondering whats going on... :(

Sounds logical that they would accept 404 traffic, and or any other, as long as it is not incentivized in some way.
