Hi,

I was wondering how I would go about selling my domains on ebay. I have had domains listed on sedo for about 3 months now and have only had 1 offer.

I would like to get more exposure by listing it on ebay. The problem I'm having working out, is sedo will do the exchange automatically with out any troubles, whereas I can't put an ad on ebay telling people to go to sedo and put an offer there (I don't think ebay would appreciate that), so would I have to do the transfer manually (logging into my account and changing the admin details to the new owners ones, although I'm not too sure how legal that is) or is there another way that I just don't know?.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi gardenplant. You should be able to 'push' any names purchased from you on ebay without too much hassle- it just means the buyer must get an account with the same registrar (usually free). This is more commonplace anyway as it is very quick and simple and it makes transferring the name to another registrar easier for the buyer as it is easier to transfer a domain between registrars when you are the owner of both accounts.
i'd be happy to offer some advice/basic tutorial if you pm me more details about where the names are registered, and what extensions they are.

Kind Regards
Chris

ebay is overcrowded with domain sales
With normal auction listing you will get few hits more

Only the premium and the ones you want to drop may sell in ebay
The premium because is a bargain and the dropped because they sell them for $1-$5

In any case take care of the feedback of the buyer because you don't have the security of sedo's escrow and always consider to push the domain AFTER you get the money

Thanks for the advice dotnom, those are very helpful tips for a newbie like me. I totally agree with you, having looked on eBay there does seem to be a wide gulf; Those that are premium selling for high prices, and those that are just trying to get rid of their domains. (not really a good place to go to test the water, as there doesn't seem to be too much of a middle market there).

Thanks again for your feedback.

He's right.

As well, I should add that you shouldn't even bother with selling them on eBay. eBay is full of lowballers who'll try to get your domains cheap so they can resell them for more. Stick with SEDO or try Afternic.

I listed on Ebay and got 24 bids for arodsucks.com. The winning bid was for $810

But... It didn't quite workout with the buyer in the end- so I think I am going to list it now on Sedo. At least now I sort of know the low end worth.
