Hi,

I thought it would be a good idea to recommend a domain verification process. What the process would do is check to make sure that the user is actually the real registrant of the domain.

What I suggest:

To get a special system where NamePros emails the registrant and they have to click a confirmation link.

Problems that may occur:

1. People spam the registrants.
Answer: Whichever users do it could get warning points and be banned.

2. Time Issue
Answer: This wouldn't actually take that long since you can verify it in less than a minute usually.

If you see any bad things about this please post them and I will try to answer.

If you like this idea REP or NP$ would be appreciated.

I actually got this idea from seeing the vBulletin licenses being verified.

Thanks for listening!

It's a lot of work for what the members can do anyway. Everyone's pretty quick at catching the fraudsters here. I noticed that in a thread posted just the other day.

The time issue and resource issue are two big constraints. I know that I'm not the only one who might put up 50-100 names at any given time.

Well then maybe a better idea would be to get a NamePros moderator to confirm domain transactions that are say over $50? $100?

What do you think? I know I would be willing to do that. There would be no need for domains under $50 because that's not a lot of money, well I guess to some people it is.

I am sorry, but I don't think there is a real need for this. I haven't noticed to many fraud threads lately, and if they are, they are normally spotted quickly and avoided. Unless there are instinces of this that I am unaware of, I don't think there would be much benefit.
