Hey guys I just launched DNKitchen.com a few hours ago.

Would love to get some feedback from my NP family. It is a very simple clean blog site. Let me know if I should make any changes.

I do like the idea/name and, for the most part, the look. I would think about changing the logo...or maybe making it bigger. I know that the chef's hat fits into the theme but I would try to find something else or work on that some more...it's floating..maybe add .com and use it as the dot...or use a frying pan.

I think that the mark on the left of the logo is suppose to be ketchup...I'd remove that, it kind of looks like blood splatter and, in my opinion, is distracting. Other than the logo I think it is a well made site with good name and slogan.

Kind of hard to read maybe a bigger font in the body and sidebar.

Good work and good luck.

I like the design but the thing that bothers my eyes is the banner on top..

Looks good and clean. Please keep it that way. Just edit the CSS though and use some Sans Serif Font instead. Serif fonts remind most people of the classics.

--Pros---
I like the color sheme, it works well with the layout. I also like the way that you used a chef hat in the logo.. It blends well with the theme of the site. The layout is simple, and very browser friendly (IE, FireFox, Opera). Also the SEO urls, keywords, and titles, are optimized pretty nice.

--Cons--
The text in the advertise here button is huge and distracts from the content.(maybe that is your goal?). Your header image is missing an alt tag, this is bad for seo. You can stylize you your text a little better. It is a little hard to seperate the titles from the content

If your goal was to be clean and simple then you have achieved that. I think it looks great. The thing that i think its lacking is dimension. Look at the design on this userbar:
22135.gif

See those lines going through the bar and the glare that it has in it. If you did something similar to that with the header bard and gray boxes to the side i think it would make the whole thing pop a little more.

ProTip: Making your site look active attracts readers. PUT AFFILIATE ADS IN THE AD PLACEMENTS for the time being. Also add maybe some adsense.

Good Luck!

good use of white space all around.
on the advertise here boxes, put at least one button of parked.com (im sure you have it) and then one empty box with "advertise here" it encourages others to try out as well which will land you some advertisers.

Ah I heard you talking about this yesterday in online chat...

First thing great design, Though I would say the colour scheme of the navigation could be improved. I dont think the yellow and grey work very good, I love gradients so that probably why im saying this.

Apart from the nav the rest of the site looks good, clean easy to follow, what a blog should be like!

Love the design, especially the logo + catchy slogan, very nice :)

I agree with Ross -- would be great to see it a bit fancier but other than that, it's great (as is the content).

Well done!

not to be pedantic, but you'll want to use the adverb "terribly" to describe the verb "to treat." :)
