Domain transfer: Cancel&Register

i have a xxx.am domain at registrar "dot.am".
it costs me $200/yr at this registrar. while at godaddy it will cost only $69/yr.
so, i want to transfer my xxx.am domain to godaddy.
but godaddy don't do transfers for xxx.am it only can register them.
what shall i do?
is it possible to cancel domain at dot.am and then register it with godaddy?

have you looked at other registrars other than godaddy?

yes but they all don't do .am transfers too. besides godaddy is my primary registrar, so i prefer my domain at godaddy.

If you cancel the domain, then there is a chance that someone may catch it... so bit of risk there.

I have never heard that .am domains can't be transferred. Seems a bit silly.

how do you know that the .am can not be transfered?
Did you talk to a CSR at GD?
