Curious - Is anyone bidding on their own domain just to get things moving?
Why would you even contemplate such?

These domains that are getting early bids are some extra attention so I could see the value in it despite the small risk that they might end up buying their name.

In terms of the legality, I don't think there would be anything wrong with it. If someone won the bid on their own name they naturally would have to still pay Domaintools their 10%.

I think this happens in any proxy bidding situation like sedo where sellers set up alternate accounts and carefully bid against interested buyers just to raise the selling price.

I definitely don't plan on doing it, but just wondering what others were thinking.

Cheers

PS HotDestinations is an awesome name. Good luck!

cripes why would you do that - you could end up having to pay them for nothing. I bet their system has fail/safes that won't allow it.

Bell - I believe EG is keeping that info - go to the first post in this thread. It will break it down by domains and there owners.

I've noticed about 3-4 replacements today. I'm wondering if sellers pulled them, contracts didn't get returned, or domaintools just swapped out for better names. cab.com not only got added, but is featured in the blog today.

Make that 10.67% ... I too have one in the auction, Baked.com

Reserve is on the high side, but still feel is fair ... with that said, hopefully the auctioneer starts bidding at a level below that, but if not, people interested in it are free to contact me after the auction, if it doesn't sell there.

Many people I've spoken with at the conference have mentioned noticing it - several recent 5-figure offers received with highest currently at $20K.

Many nice domains - I'll definitely be bidding later today.

I added your domain.

Good luck with your high reserve :)

Pulled GirlBlog.com as they sent the paperwork too late and I was on holiday.

That said, I subsequently, yesterday, had an email from Moniker who had it in their internext , not too successful, auction- advising that if it sold at DT auction they would also leverage a commission!

Hence- 'tis no longer for sale. :tri:

Sorry...I don't understand this...Can you elaborate on this? What is the DS auction and what do they mean they would leverage a commission?

Thanks-
Josh

Mistype - DT auction, but the commission would also be payable to Moniker (20%) as well as DT (10%?), in the event of a sale

So - they couldn't do the job they said they'd do for you - couldn't bring the buyers in - - - but now they want to profit when/if someone else can do it ?
I guess they're hurting after the dismal results of the last auction? Have to recoup it somewhere? j/k

ya ya .. they'er just enforcing their contract - but it's still chicken spit on their part.

I'm glad you made this public - we all need to know things like this!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with it considering it was something everyone agreed with.
