shame... my list has been pending for 2 weeks...

Well i can't figure out their scoring/listing system to save my soul, so I plugged some into estibot (thanks to another thread here on namepros), and am still just as confused.

about the "pending" status, Jay had updated in one of the extremely long threads:

"UPDATE BY JAY: The domains will say Pending Review. We are not changing the status on domains until August 6th. Everything is open to Review until then. But you have a good chance at being in the auction if your status has changed to confirmed."

Sorry about your frustration, ditto here, but for only about 4 days.

Same here, Mine have pending for two weeks, I am gonna assume they have the auction set at this point, I don't see a whole lot of changes going on or anything, I think the list is set.

I guess the voting counted; I had roadtire.com holding at #139 / #144 but has now been "kicked" because of "bad" votes....1 of 6 total that suffered the axe. Didn't think it was worth $5k anyway. My other domains all say "eligible for auction," but I don't know what that means.

I have a few others still, but who knows what's going to happen? Sheesh...what a ride.

If this is the final list, I will be quite pissed. Not to be biased or anything but a select few of my submissions were better than a decent % of the names that made it. I seriously question the review process based on what some have got in.

I'm highly disappointed at some of the finals, I thought I was about as unbiased as they come, but wow! So now looking at moniker *thanks to gazzip* as I'm too disgusted to sleep just yet... ON THE OTHER hand, it's far from me running the show, so nothing for me to do but gripe a little to myself & share your expression & look elsewhere.

#23 p6.com ($27,000)
#108 wrestlingfans.com ($5,000)
#109 responsibly.com ($4,000)
#117 locals.org ($6,500)
#374 dropsearch.com ($4,000)

I'm hoping at least one or two sell because I'd put that amount right back into the auction. There are some nice buys listed towards the end that I'd like to bid on. Will be interesting to see how active the bidding is.

Conclusion:

This live auction has really much more "garbage" then others use to have.
I am wondering if the people at DomainTools.com realize that most of the buying demand are for premium domains.
Names with no/low metrics like a lot of the ones listed here rarely receive bids due to the lack of motivation (even with low reserves).
The first step for sale is having an "appealing domain", only after come the pricing problem.

Let's hope the lack of quality names will be compensated by a large buyer audience and that auction will be a success.

you've got to be kidding! "Lack of Quality Names" ??
rebates.com ? realnames.com ? invention.com ? villas.com ? how.com ? lovestories.com ? orlandotravel.com ? character.com ? Autobiography.com ? Dreaming.com ? Hot.tv ? PerfectVision.com ? DrPoker.com ?
to name a few .... ! ! ! !
I think this auction has an awesome list - of course there are some I consider stinkers too - but majority are good solid names.

I know a little frustration comes when one of my domains doesn't make the cut - I take it personal. I love my domains, they are my children.

I can't really even compare DT's auction with Moniker since Moniker throws several thousand names at the wall (live and silent) - and sees what sticks - DT seems to have made their list pretty transparent, and let us even have a voice in it!

This sure proves just how "subjective" domains can be !

I know how you feel but I guess there are loads of people thinking that, which also seems to show by the votes on them, 300+ of them had more bad votes than good but they are still there.

I guess its pretty common to think our names are actually far better than they are but these ones are just plain bizzare to me.

chinadaddy, emptyjar, grannyknot :alien: - PPC, brandable, traffic, potential end-user ???

Can anyone explain what I'm missing here with these three ? :-/

There are definetly some cracking ones in there too so I am looking forward to seeing the results and hopefully it will be a big success overall.

Best of luck to all the NamePros members that made the cut :kickass:

Well, I had 3 confirmed as from the start.

#40 Voys.com
#154 CompanyManager.com
#162 VacantHouse.com

All with $1k reserve.

Couple that I figured would make it, but did not.

FullTimeMother.com (628)
Managed.org (731)
idgo.com (688)
PersonalJewelry.com (670)
uked.com (675)
GenuineGold.com (633)

Good luck to all that have at least one in the auction!

My guess is they were a bit overwhelmed by the number of names they had to dig through.

All in all, I think they did an admirable job for this being their first stab at it. I didn't get one in, but didn't start submitting until late in the game (all of mine still read "pending review", which I believe probably means "Hey.. we kind of cherry picked through them but really didn't really get a chance to fully review these names as well as we'd have liked..."). Do I think I got snubbed? Nope. Do I think I have submitted names better than the ones on the list with fair reserves? Sure. But I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

It will be very interesting to see how this first auction goes. Good luck to all with a name in!

Submitted yesterday, perhaps too late...

Domain Reserve Status Score Auction Note User Note Action
getfranchise.com unconfirmed 625 Pending review. OVT - Remove | View Lot

youcash.com unconfirmed 694 Pending review. Overture Results - 370509 cash advance Remove | View Lot

Grama, You are right, my last sentence was not formulated correctly. I do apologize. The "of some of these" was missing. You should read:
"Let's hope the lack of quality of some of these names will be compensated by a larger buyer audience and that auction will be a success."

As you outlined very well there are some great premium names in the lot but there is also a lot of crap and in a percentage that is strongly higher then we use to see on other live auctions.

I haven't recieved a contract yet. Hope this isn't going to be a problem. These are the names I have listed:

Mechanism.com #9
Character.com #38
Copies.com #74
Pains.com #319

I'm pulling for all NP'ers that have names listed! Good luck!

To those that tried, but didn't quite make the cut; don't be too down on yourself! You'll have your day soon enough!

I don't even think it is the belief that one's names are better. I feel personally that is more factual. Some of the names I see there are just plain bad. I read some of the responses by Jay on the blog.

I recall one mentioning that a select few names were more brandable than generic so they probably wouldn't make it. The funny thing is I see a good amount of names that are clearly brandable & not generic on the list. One would have to start thing names were randomly picked from a hat or something.

I have seen some of the names people submitted that didn't make it. I must say I see a lot of good names on the sidelines here which easily should have made it.

As far as the voting goes, I'm sure many purposely voted bad just to give themselves a chance. I actually voted more names good than bad. I was not biased in my voting. I tried to keep an open mind about it. It just would have been nice to see the same being said for the selection process.

GL to everyone in the auction

One can definitely say there is a lack of quality names. I'd say at least 30% are subpar by the so called standards that were supposedly in place. In an auction limited to 450 entries, that percentage is way too high. In my opinion it takes away from the really good names in the auction.
