Domain registration timout period, without paying...

Hi all,

I'm in a bit of a strange position. I have initiated registration on a domain that is available. It is a cctld domain, it appears that someone else has also initiated registration on this domain 2 weeks ago, but has not yet paid. (This info is shown on the whois page)

My question is, is there a standard period for when this domain will open back up for registration, if this person does not pay?

EuroDNS tells me i have to wait, but not how long. It took a week to get an answer as to what was going on, so i thought i'd query NPers first before EuroDNS.

Is there a standard time period for this, or does it just depend on each tld? Any ideas on this would be great,

Thanks for your post, but reading through i don't think it really gives me an answer.

According to that announcement, prior to it, it may have been a 5 day period, but that has now been scrapped?

Depends on the ccTLD or better put the Registry that runs the ccTLD in question. They set the rules and procedures etc etc.

Can you give us the name of the country ?

I would in this case rmail the registry and ask them what the procedure is. [email protected]

And yeah 100 USD for a 2 year registration is high.

Yeh: $100 per year, 2 year minimum, so $200 all up.

I think your math is a lil off. 100 usd for the first 2 years then 50 usd renewal fee after the 2 years.

You may be right realtimeregister. Im registering with eurodns though which seems over double the price .

However, you did give me an answer to my original question, doing a translation of that page gives me:

Payment deadline: At 30 days after the date of registration.

Funny how you find what you're looking for.

Ah Eurodns yeah that explains why the math was off
On the otherhand you do not have to fax your creditcard info when using Eurodns unlike NIC DO.
