Domain Name with PR BUT No Backlinks?

Can a domain name have pagerank but no/few backlinks? I'm considering getting sgfriends.com which has a PR of 2. But I found that it's parked at Sedo and only has 2 search engine inbound links - is that possible.

I checked using the link at my website, sedoinc.com, or can anyone suggest a better tool for checking backlinks?

Yes it can
Page rank can be there for a site though it doesnt have backlinks

No need to worry ,backlinks are not everything that determines PageRank.
If your utitlity says no Backlinks ,it is probably correct.
I have a login page for a Parked Domain ,that has just got a PR2
It is only a Form statement. No Head statement,links to or from it .

Even I have a domain that has just one backlink and is PR 3 for past 6 months and a sub-domain that has PR of 5 with just one link from yahoo dir.

Google is changing the way they rank pages. Page rank also depends on how old the website is and how long the domain name is reged for!

Nope.. PR has its value as it is dependent on how old the website is and how long the domain name is reged for! "as quoted by JoshHendo"

The key part is quality of backlink, one quality link from PR 5 or 6 might be equivalant to more than 20 links from PR 1 or 2 url.
