I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask but..............

Is it ethical to send the same domain name at the same time to 2 different buyers who started threads on the Domain Name Wanted forum? In other words, is it alright to have 2 buyers at the same time giving my domain consideration? Or should I wait for one buyer to buy it or reject before I send it to the other buyer?

IMO, it is not a problem if you send your domain to both and you can select the best one for you.

Thanks Sinh. I don't want to do anything unethical or against NP rules.

I usually include the phrase "available until sold" when I submit a name. That way, the recipient knows that if someone else responds first agreeing to buy , the name will be sold.

Yeah, offer with "...subject to prior sale" and you're covered. Makes the name sound very much in demand, too :xf.wink:

It's completely fine. Your just responding to potential buyers. If they like the domain, it's first person to present best offer wins. Nothing unethical.

Just remember who answers first with the price you want.

If I send a domain name offer to multiple people with a BIN price who ever answers first gets the domain.

It's only illegal if you sell the same name to both of them. :)

All of that back and forth is nothing but negotiating. Until you've actually come to an agreement via escrow or some other legal forum, then there is no deal. Even then, people will back out of deals. So, the point is negotiate with as many people as you want until some solid deal has been reached.

The reality is, you really haven't sold a domain, until you have money in the bank or paypal.

Yes, it's allowed as long as you're transparent / don't make 2 deals at once (You can only sell a single domain name to one buyer at any given moment). An easy way to avoid that is to either not provide a BIN price, or when you do offer a BIN price, always state that the domain will be sold to the first person to accept the BIN. That will inform the buyer that they can only buy the domain at that price if they offer to buy it before anyone else.

Note: Every marketplace has a slightly different policy when it comes to listings. Be sure you review each policy before you list so that you can avoid breaking any rules and jeopardizing your account.

Hope that helps,

If you are quoting a BIN, indicate that it's on first come first served basis (claim timestamp prevails), and it doesn't hurt to mention you're in touch with other parties as well.

I was just wondering if it was ethical and within NP rules to send the same name to two different people who started a thread in the Domain Name Wanted forum so that they were both considering that same name at the same time. I just didn't want to do anything wrong.

Thanks to all who responded.
