Hello, I was just checking my domain names in my Godaddy account this morning and found that one of my names was not in the list. I checked the whois and it's listing that someone else owns the name. I just renewed the name for 5 years in December and have the receipt from Godaddy which shows it was paid for.

I've contacted Godaddy support and am awaiting an answer. In the mean time, does anyone know if there is some page on Godaddy that shows the history of the domain name, like if the name was transferred out on XX day? I can't find any sort of historical page like this in their account manager. Is there any other way aside from someone hacking my account that would force Godaddy to transfer a domain to someone else without alerting me to what is happening? If someone were to petition Godaddy or another entity claiming the domain was a violation of a trademark or copyright, could Godaddy simply transfer the name without alerting me?

The domain in question is a 3 letter dot net that I've owned since 1996 or so.

depending on what email service you use (gmail), make sure that there are not filters that have been put in place that would automatically, forward, archive & delete any emails from specific contacts.

Wow thanks, there was in deed a filter that deleted any email from godaddy.com Guess I found out how this happened.

So Godaddy's Undo team replied and said there is nothing they can do because too much time has lapsed since the issue of a new registrant. They said the only thing I can do is file a complaint with ICANN. :(

I briefly looked at the ICANN domain dispute page and it seems very complicated and mentions fees are involved. Does anyone have any experience with this? Or do I just take this as a "lesson learned" and move on?

How long has it been? If the domain is in a new account there is a 60 day lock. The domain is already with GoDaddy.com so they have no excuse not to research it.

I would do whatever it takes from talking with supervisors, filing a complaint with the BBB, etc.

At this point - your only recourse is legal action then, and Yes, it will cost your some money. The question becomes one - how valuable is the domain name to you?

That's really bad and I hope you get it back soon. It would be pretty stressful.
