We seem to be in a period of economic and political turmoil, and there is every indication that this will increase. How will this affect prices? My feeling is that it will increase demand for names that can be used for political comments, and for banking and financial related services.

When economy is unstable people are less enticed to invest, so there may be a smaller number of new startup business and so there is less need for domains too. Last year and this one have been under the turmoil of US election but 2018 was expected to make a comeback. Now, Forbes journalist forecast less than 3% growth in US GDP for 2018. and that is a bit less than 2017. which is not good for domain business too.

On the other hand Russia and US are escalating their cold war, talk is that they both want to extract oil from Arctic (north pole). Domains with that conotation could be valuble.

But there is the other side. If people lose their jobs, then some become self-employed and look for a domain name to get started. There is also a lot of political chat as some people try to change the situation. We have this in Britain at the moment. We voted for Brexit, and the deep state didn't like it, so they got a manchurian candidate ( Theresa May) to mess things up and leave us with a real mess and still be under the rule of the Keiser Reich. They are also messing up Donald Trump. forcing him to impose sanctions on Russia is the height of stupidity, and will continue to weaken the US. I suspect there is a great future for related domain names, as long as you can keep them online of course. :)
