Hi Friends & Seniors,

Since i am totally new in selling domain names, would request you to kindly guide for the same.

I have just listed some domains on sedo.com. For example beard360.com, airflightrate.com, gasknobs.com etc..

Sedo is suggesting the price for all 3 as 749 for beard360.com, 449 for airflightrate.com etc.

Kindly guide whether these prices are realistic enough for the buyer?
Also i prefer make offer instead of buy now, coz i personally feel that these prices are very high.

Therefore, would request you to kindly guide whether, what can be the justified prices,
and whether i shall use Make Offer instead of Buy Now.

Also i have listed the same domains on Afternic.com. Is it ok to list the same domains on different website?

Awaiting your quickest response,

Thanks & Regards,
Rajat Gupta

Hi Rajat,

It's OK to list on more than 1 website provided you don't have any Buy Now listings on more than 1 website. I personally, have always preferred Make Offer listings.

Sedo valuations are as useless an any automated system can be. I wouldn't trust it, at all.

I don't want to burst your bubble. But I personally don't see any commercial or non-commercial value in these domains. Who do you think are going to buy these domains? I don't see an end user?

Hi Stub,

Thank you so much for your guidance. Actually since i had no idea, so just bought these domains to install amazon.com affiliate products, develop a website and sell the website.

But since i did not get the time to develop the website, i thought to sell the domain names.

Can you please also guide me for a criteria to choose domain names to buy, so that i can sell them for decent profits ? Or kindly guide for any website or training material, that can help me to choose buy profitable domains.

That is what this entire forum is all about. You will have to take the time to read this forum for a very long time before you will start to understand the domain business. There are always many interesting topics discussed here every day.

For me. The simple rule should be it must be commercially desirable. In another thread I praised PlatinumSolutions.com because it is a desirable domain for anyone selling solutions, and platinum gives it some prestige. A company might be already branded to this domain, or might even consider rebranding to this domain. I could see this domain easily selling for $5-10k. Of course you need to still find a buyer willing to pay that kind of money. But then, nobody said selling domains was easy.

non-commercial stuff like blogs have very limited values, because there is plenty of choice. Which keeps down their prices. Even good blog domains are hard to sell. Because of almost limitless choices. To sell a somethingblog.com for over $500 isn't an easy sell.

Selling something which is commercially viable is the key. It can even be a made up name. Just as long as it it desirable enough for somebody to brand their business to the name. Ask yourself why would somebody buy a domain which wasn't commercially viable, somehow, if they don't intend to make a business out of the domain. They'd go a register a new domain for $10.

Of course there are exceptions with anything and everything in life. But you should be looking at what most of the population considers has some kind of commercial proposition.

You're welcome :) Of course one can only scratch the surface with 1 post. But you've come to the right place. There is an absolute trove of information on NamePros. Start in the Noobs section and work your way up.

Hi Stub, Kindly suggest your views, as to how much sale or price can these domains can get. I am not sure but i guess these domains are commercially desirable and viable. These belong to my clients, who do not wish to renew them.

Would you suggest trying my luck listing them on flippa, sedo or afternic.

Your clients domains by themselves are worth nothing. Good luck.

(Unless they have some sort of traffic or SEO benefit which someone might find useful.)

You cannot expect me to give you a continuing supply of advice. You should do your own research. Flippa is a reseller environment. So don't expect top dollar there. You should use Flippa to move your inventory at reseller levels. Sedo/Afternic are basically retail.

I don't see these have great value. You need to find some consultants named FinWeb. I'd suggest some outbound connections via Google Search. You might need to search the first 10-20 pages. What does MFA stand for? What was your client using it for? I searched the 1st page only of Google for MFA and didn't reach any commercial conclusions. Perhaps a search for what MFA means would be more fruitful? I think the overseas bit kills it. Personally.
