Domain name extensions

Hey guys,

I was wondering, Would it be okay to reg the same domain name with a different extension if the other person doesn't own other the extensions?

EXAMPLE

domains.com - nothing is going on with that domain name, maybe its parked, maybe its up for auction, its not branded

BUT

i wanted to reg

domains.ca - which is available and I want to develop it

Is there anything I should be aware of? any problems I'm going to encounter if I do?

Any advice would help!

domains.ca is taken. So we need more info. But in general, if the name is trademarked, you could have problems unless it is used in a completely different context/industry.

If the domain does not use a trademark then you can register it in other extensions.

But just be aware that if you put a site on a domain with a different extention and the .com later has the same kind of site, the .com may get some traffic from people looking for your site.

I suppose that you can also use Hyphen and change letters in order to register domain name.

BTW, you need to choose accredited Registrar in order to be sure that your domain will not disappear.
